Don't talk to the jeweler. He designed it and it should be enough. You'll learn to love it. : (2 votes)

I think you should definitely go with him to the jewler.  If you are thinking about it enough to ask for all of our opinions you must really want the changes you are considering.  Like you said this is something that you willbe wearing everyday for the rest of your life.  You would hate  yourself if you got the original design and ended up not really liking it.

I say change it.  You’re the one wearing it for the rest of your life or at least until you upgrade.  Get what you like and try to keep the BF’s overall design so that it’s still apart of him but make the changes you need to love it.

If he was willing to talk to you about it obviously he values your opinion. I can’t see him wanting you to be unhappy especially when he is custom designing something.

My friend’s Darling Husband designed a ring and had it custom made without having a clue what she wanted. We all told him to consult with her to at least get some ideas of what she wanted but he refused. In the end she hated the ring and they ended up spending thousands more after their wedding to have it completely changed.

I agree that changing it would be best but also trying to incorporate his design as well. I made the mistake of always wanting to please my husband with my ring but in the end it wasn’t what I wanted and it’s harder to change down the road because jewelry has a very low re-sale value .. Unless you upgrade but you usually have to spend double the $.

I say talk to the jeweler and get the ring made how you love it!

My Fiance had my ring completely custom made with his own design.  After much debate, he decided to show me the CAD drawing just to make sure I loved it since it would be easier to change at that stage than after it’s made, lol.  I wasn’t sure initially if I wanted to see it though, but when you put that much time and money into a ring he definitely wanted to make sure I loved it!  Luckily I loved everything about it, but if I wanted to change something Fiance said he wouldn’t be offended! I really appreciated that he took my opinion into consideration and you are lucky to have a Fiance who values your opinion too πŸ™‚

Even though I saw the CAD drawing, it was still very much a surprise when he proposed with the real thing.  Get the ring you love!  The beauty of a custom ring is it can be designed completely to your liking!  Good luck!

Absolutely talk to the jeweler. You’ll be wearing this the rest of your life, so I wouldn’t let “tradition” prevent me from ensuring I really love it.

Talk to the jeweler! You already told your boyfriend that there’s something you don’t love about the ring; I’d think it would bother him if you did NOT say something to the jeweler.

FH and I went shopping and went to several stores till we both realized what I wanted wasn’t in a traditional ring store.  We went to a jeweler who understood exactly what I wanted and helped us order every piece.

Think of it this way, this is a possible heirloom or something that you’ll be with for your entire life.  It’s the most important purchase that he’ll ever make for your marriage aside from the marriage certificate itself and I’m not talking about cost.

It’s wonderful he began thinking solely of what you wanted, but he gave you the option to express your opinion, so why not express it?  You’ll love the ring more knowing that you put a little bit of yourself in it.

Change it, because ultimately he’ll be happiest with something you love.  I chose my ring, and my Fiance beams every time he catches me looking at it.  Yours will, too.
