So I think I may be getting my wedding band custom made. I’d rather not, but I haven’t found exactly what I want and customizing seems to be pretty common here (I’m in South America).
Anything I should know about custom ordering? I have a photo to show them but other than that am not really sure what I should tell them or make clear? If anyone has experience with this, I’d love your insight!
These are my 2 inspiration photos:
I’m open to having as few as 3-4 diamonds depending on price. Definitely don’t want more than in the photo on the left.
I want white gold and as thin as possible because I have tiny fingers and just don’t like big jewelry. Thin both in the width of the band and the thickness of it, if that makes sense.

@ana77: I’m currently having 2 custom bands made to fit around my e-ring. Just make sure you go to a reputable jeweler and get an exact quote about price. Also make sure they do a mock up or a wax mold to see before they start making the actual ring to double check you’re getting EXACTLY what you want.
My e-ring has diamonds down the sides of the band and we were looking at super thin bands to go on each side of it. He told me that super small diamonds are actually MORE expensive then slightly larger diamonds. This is because the smaller diamonds have the same amount of cuts and facets but are so much harder to cut because of how small they are. So smaller diamonds don’t always mean lower cost. Just something to think about.
Do you want princess cut diamonds in your band like in the photo? I’m not sure if there would be a price difference on those compared to round cut like in most wedding rings, definitely ask.

@lalalalauren: Thanks for your advice! Good to know about the smaller diamonds – I’ll be sure to ask. Yes, I do REALLY like the princess cut diamonds more than the round ones. I hadn’t even thought about that causing a rise in price. I’ll have to ask about that too! I’d be open to the round diamonds if it was a significant change in price. We have “ring godparents” (buying the rings!), so I don’t want to go overboard! 🙂 Thanks again!
