I’m having mine custom-made!  I’m in the same boat as you!  The matching wedding band to my e-ring is quite expensive and more than I can afford, being that I’m paying for a wedding and everything. 🙂  I think you should be fine, just make sure you get a same set band as the one that comes with your e-ring.  For example, if you’re e-ring is channel set, have your wedding band made channel set!

My husband had my e-ring AND my wedding band custom made.  I am SO glad he did for a few reasons.  #1 – they are one of a kind.  #2 – he paid MUCH less than what he would have had he gone to a store at the mall or got a "designer" ring.  My wedding band is bead-set milgrain with engraved sides.  The e-ring is "3 stone" with 4 small bead set diamonds down each side with milgrain and engraving on the sides (front & back? I don’t know what you call the part that you look at when you lay the ring flat on a table – but that is the part that has engraving on both rings).  He paid approximately $1800 CAD for what would have cost him about $5500 had he not had them made by his family’s jeweler.  It was a fantastic experience and I am so happy with my rings.  I would recommend custom made bands for sure.

FYI – any jeweler worth their salt will work with you to make sure you are happy with the ring.  You shouldn’t be "stuck" with anything.  Just make sure you are very specific in what you want so there is no confusion.  Use pictures  – that would help

The jeweler did make a wax design for us to look at.  And when he was done  I was actually not happy with my wedding band.  The diamonds did not match up perfectly to my e-ring, and the milgrain was slightly …off…

So I told him my problems with the ring and he went back to work and about a week and a half later I had just what I wanted.

I would definitely go to a jeweler that you KNOW does good work.  Ask family and friends if they have a jeweler they would trust/ recommend
