I got my dress last weekend! I only tried on 4! And the 4th one was just a joke. The first two I tried on were short dresses, since that’s what I wanted. They were fine…then the third dress!! *Squeals* was just IT! But it is a long dress. I can cut it off so it’s tea length like I always wanted. It’s Casablanca 1900…GORGEOUS lace skirt. You can kind of tell where it’d be cut off to be tea length. Am I nuts for wanting to cut off this gorgeous dress?? Just looking for some feedback/thoughts…

I think if you want it shorter, cut it off! If you like everything else about it, then stop looking and get it altered. It’s beautiful and I think shorter will be wonderful as well.

@ashkat: One of my favorite dresses. =) I love, love, love it the way it is. It’ll be your dress though. I think getting rid half of the dress won’t make it as beautiful, but then again, that’s my opinion! See what a professional has to say before you decide.

I think it would look good….as long as when you say “cut off” you mean “by a professional” and not just you with scissors!!

Casablanca dresses can be custom ordered, so rather than choppping it off by your seamstress, ask how much it’d be to custom order the length of this dress. good luck!

You can cut it. But I would definately suggest to leave the bottom lace on. Instead of cutting it from the bottom (cutting off the scalloped lace hem) cut it off from the waist and have a seamstress sew it back on at the height that you want.

I agree with efitzger. shorten it from the waist.

That is a beautiful dress!! I think it would look awesome as a tea length dress!! I would make sure the place you take it to when you alter it, are really good! I think maybe the reason you are doubting the decision is b/c this dress is SO beautiful & you hate to see it altered, but I think it would look great as a tea length dress!!
