I will probably always keep my hair long, because I hate the way it looks when it’s short. I’ve only had it above my shoulders twice in my entire life and I’ll be turning 30 at the end of the month.

I will probably not cut my hair until I’m much older. My face is too round for short hair, and age won’t change that.

i adore pixie cuts. i think theyre coming back in in some sort of fashion style. and i think pregnant ladies are adorable with short hair. im odd? but long works for all ages too! i think it depends more on the person than the number.

I said yes, at a certain age. When I was 24 I gave myself the chop. It wasn’t short short but just a long, shoulder skimming bob. I think it made me look more professional.

@JustLove25:  I put that in the same category as not wearing white for a second wedding, wearing a “suit” for your wedding if you are past 40, wearing a jacket dress if you are the MOB. Just an outdated concept. Remember “fashion experts” change their minds all the time and don’t even make excuses for trends they pushed previously. Wear your hair how you feel comfortable, you will be miserable if you cut it and don’t like it. Its not like changing your clothes.

I might cut it when it starts going gray. Maybe. I rotate though. Anywhere between waist length and shoulder length depending on my mood. I tend to grow it out, donate it, and regrow it. At waist length its too long, but there is a minimum for donations and I refuse to have it shorter than my chin. Right now I’m growing it out for the wedding (11 months to go) and its at the top of my boobs. I’m hoping it grows another 4-6 inches by the wedding.

I’m 40 and I have long hair. Cut your hair when you’re in your 50s or 60s, but not before!

I love older ladies with long hair.

I’ve always had long hair, and the few times I’ve chopped it off (more of a post ex boyfriend chop) it always turned out terrible. The last time it happened, my Darling Husband (then just a friend) started calling me Robert Smith… and that was to make me feel better :p

Yet every couple of years I get it in my head that I would look AWESOME with short hair… even though I always regret it. So I’ll most likely have longish hair forever, cause short hair just does NOT go with my face.

Ahh haha 30 is not old!  I am actually giggling that you’re 30 and think 30 is old, I thought  maybe someone in their teens posted this because I remember thinking 30 was so “grown up” when I was younger:-)  Now I’m 30 and honestly I still feel like a kid!  And I think I look like one, too.  Look at it this way, the following ladies are all 30 or older:

    Zooey Deschanel

    Jessica Alba

    Kate Beckinsale

    Jessica Biel

    Kirsten Dunst

    Kate Middleton

    Sofia Vergara (39!)

    Natalie Portman

Do these women strike you as spinsters in need of a soccer mom ‘do or a little gray perm?  Maybe it’s because people stay single a bit longer where I live, therefore most of my peers are just now getting engaged, etc… but 30 is so young to me.  🙂

I think you can totally have long hair.  But hair past your waist is getting a bit long even for the most hip and awesome people.  Go to a stylist and get a great cut that stays long but makes you feel more chic.

I love longer hair on older women, like Stevie Nicks, Jane Seymour, and Crystal Gayle.

I have thought about this from differing perspectives the older I’ve become.  I had longer hair in my 20s and decided that, when I was in my 30s, I needed to cut it, and so I did.  Then, when I began to approach my 40s, I decided to grow my hair for awhile.  What’s really funny is that, now that I am (obviously!!) older than I’ve ever been, my hair is longer than it’s ever been, and I just hit the (drum roll please … ) “half century” mark earlier this year! 🙂

This pic is from a few months ago.  My hair currently is about an inch longer. (I’ve been growing it out to wear it in an updo for my DSD’s wedding this fall.)

I am 56 and my hair is longer now than it’s been in years. It’s about two inches below my chin. I don’t think age has diddly squat with how long your hair is.

I guess somewhere through the years I decided to do what I like, not what someone thinks is age appropriate.

@JustLove25:  I love long hair.  I like to look to other cultures where women grow their hair long- and then that always makes me love mine again.  I live in a city in the upper midwest (right now, :/) and almost no one has long hair like mine.  Then I see women from other cultures around town and see how lovely their hair is.  When I lived out west long hair was super cool, less of an all-american town I guess.  But then there are all the girls getting extensions.  Long hair is tough to care for sometimes, but I think it is really pretty and adds a lot to someone.  It is just hard to find good long hair, but if you are lucky enough to have it- cherish it doll.  I am thankful the messy side braid is in right now!  But I also love a long pony tail.  I started having mine layered and highlighted and that helped to make it more modern.  When I was in Argentina, it was so nice to fit.right.in.  The girls were tall like me, and everyone had long hair!!!!!!!!!!!

When I lived out west women had long hair at all ages and it was SO.pretty.  Just as long as you trim the ends once in a blue moon (take care of it) it is lovely at any age.

ps. mine is so long right now I could tuck it into pants (not that I would!)  🙂
