My sister had a very small registry since she already had lots of house stuff, so we made hers a ‘date night’ shower.  Everyone brought gifts meant for a date night out for them.  They got lots of great stuff; a picnic basket, tickets to stage west, gift cards for movies, a special hike with ziplining. . .but if the bride really wants gifts off a registry, it’s not the greatest idea.

I’ve heard of Pantry or Recipe Card, where someone brings an item for their new home “pantry” or a Recipe to help the new bride with cooking!

I hope more Bees share ideas!

For my friend we used her colors as a theme. Her main color was chocolate brown so we had a chocolate shower. We played chocolate themed games, and of course had tons of chocolate all around.

I’ve seen a couple of “‘Round the Clock” Showers, where everyone gets a different time of day and has to bring a gift related to that time aka the person who gets 8am might bring a coffee maker and the person who gets 11pm might bring funky ice cream bowls.  You can play with it if you have less than 12 people and make the times things like Playtime, bedtime, snack time etc.  or you can go for AM/PM if you have more than 12.

My friend had a holiday shower – each guest was assigned a holiday – Christmas/Thanksgiving/4th of July, and had to bring a gift that the couple could use on that holiday.  It was a really cute idea that I had never heard of before.

@Dragonsus:  Thats a cute idea… i think my girls are having a hard time trying to figure out a shower for me since only a handful of people are attending.

We had a travel themed shower.  We played an Amazing race type team game, and then each guest was assigned to present me with a honeymoon location suggestion and make their gift/presentation tie into their assigned place if they wanted.

Example – one person got Ireland, did a quick presentation of why I might want to visit Ireland, and then gave me a box of Lucky Charms with a Pot of gold (ziploc bag full of loonies) hidden inside.

A couple people who got places that are actually on my bucket list (Paris, NYC) gave me great travel books, and others picked up freebie travel brochures from local agents.

My Future Sister-In-Law got married last Oct., and her aunts threw her a tea party! it was so cute, they all pooled their teacup colletions, so everyones place setting had a different china set! They served lots of kinds of tea, and asked evryone to wear a hat! It turned out really cute, and I loved the oportunity to wear my great-grandmother’s antiquite fascinator/ birdcage veil/ floral hat! (oh an white gloves of course!)

My sister is having a “Retro Housewife” party for me. Lots of Anne Taintor things, lots of retro kitchen stuff to put the food, appetizers & drinks in, and lots of vintage aprons for everyone to wear. I’m excited! 🙂
