You could try Modcloth.com or go through your local TjMaxx’s/Ross’s.

I wore a navy blue kimono sleeve cotton dress for our engagement pics and I got the dress at Target for like $20-30.  Target actually had a good selection of dresses.  Old Navy is another good place to look because they have a lot of solid color dresses.   Then there’s always Nordstrom or Macy’s, they usually have a big selection.

Was it the blue dress you liked?  I couldn’t find something online like it, but I’m sure you could find something like it in person.  Nordstrom, H&M, Club Monaco, Zara, …?  Here are a some casual dressed I found online that are cheap that would have a nice rustic/outdoorsy look.  Would look nice w/ espadrilles.  Not sure your style tho, or age for that matter. I couldn’t find a lot of green…

For October in the mountains…

With different accessories, this could be a Tennessee mountain dress instead of an Upper East Side dress: http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-383-upper-east-side.aspx

Again, with the right accessories… http://www.shabbyapple.com/p-420-azure-coast.aspx

I don’t know what it’s like in October for you, but we did our engagment photos in March, and it ended up being freezing cold.  October is often the same here in MD.  At the last possible moment, I found an adorable coat at H&M to wear over skinny jeans, first with some pretty heals, and then when my feet got tired, some knee-high boots.  The coat totally made the photos, and it was still really dressy, even over jeans.  This is the coat, but it has a fancy black belt that’s supposed to go around the waist and it has a really pretty collar:  http://www.chictopia.com/photo/show/385788-New+York+New+York-beige-h-m-coat-black-jeffrey-campbell-wedges

I obviously had to scrap my plans to wear a dress, and since I didn’t have a back-up plan, I was scrambling at the last minute to find a replacement.  So you may want to consider the weather and have a back-up plan if you want to wear a dress.

@MrsB-to-Be: Glad you like it!  I’m trying to convince my fiance’s sister to get a dress from there that I really want for myself but can’t pull off because of my child-bearing hips.

As for your pickes, I really like the Old Navy dress (it would look so good with my brown knee-high boots and the scarf my fiance’s aunt sent from Turkey…) and the Mercury Shadow one from Boden, but the green Napoli one is not speaking to me- it’s just a little bland, even with some accessories.  If you like that Old Navy one, Loft has a bunch of dresses that are similar, and their clothes tend to last a little longer than ON.  And Loft has amazing coupons every week or so, so you never have to pay full price.

Check out Old Navy! They always seem to have cute cotton dresses, that are JUST enough to jazz up or dress down and comfy! =)

I’d do a Tank Top Dress or a Maxi Dress.
