So my 3 year old niece, Grace, is wrapping her head around being flower girl and her older sister and I were explaining what would be involved. She’d wear a pretty dress, hold a basket of flowers, and put the flowers on the floor in front of me. She kept insisting that she would throw the flowers (the word “scatter” isn’t in her vocab yet apparently), but seemed to get it otherwise.
Then we went to a bridal shop and picked up a catalogue that she was looking at. In one picture it looked like flower petals were blowing across the bride and groom. Grace saw this and started insisting that her job was to throw the petals at the bride. Her older sister and I bought some fake petals and put them in a basket to show her and she gleefully flung fistfulls directly at me! After her sister and I demonstrated repeatedly that she was supposed to put them on the floor, not on me, she kept disagreeing based on the picture she had seen (no, I throw them at auntie and Eric [my fi]). Finally, she agreed to put them on the floor, although she apparently thought it would be more fun to throw them at me, she was not nearly as gleeful about putting them on the floor as throwing them at me!
Glad we got that figured out before the big day!
My nieces are so darn cute!
