OK so I have been in a cubicle my entire professional life… until now. I was promoted a couple of months ago and I moved into my office last month. It’s pretty large, and I don’t know what to do with it, decor-wise! In my cube, it was smaller obviously, and easy to decorate (Hello, Target $1 section). Do you bees have couches in yours? Potted plants? We’re painting today, and I settled on a lavender color with gray trim.
I need decor ideas! What do you do to make your office your own? I have a lot of clients come in, and we’re known as a very “fun” company, so I want my office to reflect that.

Congrats on the promotion! In my old office, I bought a bunch of these flowers to stick on my accent wall: http://www.umbra.com/ustore/product/wallflower-chrome.store
I liked how cute and modern they were. They’re also inexpensive and very easy to hang. I never had a couch in my office but I did have beanbag chairs. My coworkers used to love them, but they weren’t the best for clients.

@QueenOfSerendip: What do you do? I think decor really depends on your profession, at least to some degree. Who are your clients? Mostly men, mostly women, what are their ages? Since your clients come into your office often, I think it should not only appeal to you but also to them.
A sofa is a great idea, btw, especially if your office is large enough. Since your wall colours are lavender and gray, maybe a gray sofa? Something like this? It’s Ikea, btw.
ETA: Congratulations on your promotion! 🙂

@MrsPhilly: OK that is ADORABLE! I might need to do that. I wish I was craftier… but I have some coworkers that would be good at this type of stuff.
@bleusteel: Love those! I am definitely ordering some. They are so cute but still professional.
@MsMeow: I’m in advertising. So my clients are kind of all over the board :/ But we work hard to maintain a fun, young image, so I think some younger, fresh decor would not be out of place at all. I love that sofa – and I think a nice sofa would help pull the office together.
Thanks so much ladies!

@QueenOfSerendip: My brother is in advertising too 🙂
Instead of a sofa, you could also have a few armchairs just in case you have multiple clients in your office and they don’t know each other and would find it awkward to sit together. They’re also easier to move around. I would suggest leather/faux leather and darker colours, they’re much easier to keep clean.
The wall flowers PP suggested are so cute! I love them 🙂
Do you have any awards or anything similar that speaks of how great you are at your job? You could frame them and hang them on one of the walls or maybe display them in a little glass door cabinet? I think a little showing off can’t hurt – that way your clients will know they’re in good hands but you won’t have to actually go out and say it 🙂
