So I just had a brilliant (or is it????) idea for a seating chart at our wedding that will be held at a library. I had initially planned on escort cards made out of these card catalog cards that I was going to turn into laminated bookmarks, but I think those will now be strictly favors at the place settings or seating cards. So instead, I thought it would be a cute idea to do a seating chart board with the title “Table of Contents” (get it…’cus its TABLES and the guests are the CONTENT, and it’s a LIBRARY), and then with the guests listed like:
John Smith . . . . . . . 5
Jill Richards . . . . . . . 1
Get it….like a table of contents in a BOOK….’cus its a LIBRARY. (LOL…okay, I may have lost it a little bit). We aren’t going over the top with the theme (eg., no book-centerpieces, or bouquets out of magazine pages), but there are nods here and there (our invite is a booklet, with the title “MoneyPenny and Boy: A love story”; our “how we met” story from our website is called our prologue, etc.). I thought this would be cute, but does it seem corny?
Also, when you are doing seating charts, what do you PUT them on? Get the printed on cardboard from Kinkos or something??

That’s an awesome idea! You should have it in a big “book” and title the book too.

I think it’s cute! Themes are such a neat idea and if you have one that you can work into different parts of the day, do it! π

I think that has just the right amount of cheese! π I’m a book lover too, so I think this idea is really awesome. Very creative.

LOL Thanks ladies for helping me keep my cheese quotient at the perfect level!
@Toffee – I’m intrigued by your suggestion of having it in a big book. What do you mean by that???

I actually thought about using those old-school library card things (you know, the kind that fits into a sleeve in the book, and it gets stamped by the librarian) as a guest book. I would have blank libary cards, with that little sleeve. And people would write a note to me and my Fiance (and if there was a polaroid, they would take their picture and put it in there).
I found this free template: http://creaturecomforts.typepad.com/photos/freebies_and_tutorials/freelibrarycardtemplate.html
Fiance and I decided not to do it – because there’s nothing about our wedding that deals with a library – but yours does! You can do that as the guest lists, corresponding with the “Table of Contents” seating chart.

@neontl- SO CUTE!!! I was going to do a fauxto booth with strips and adhere it to a scrapbook for folks to also write notes, but if that doesn’t work out, this would be a super cute idea & easier to do, b/c people could just pick up the polaroid, snap away, and keep it moving!
