Hi bees
So I just came up with this idea today. I plan to have some tealights on my table as part of the decor but I wanted to make them pretty. So I used one of my ribbon flower patterns and incorporated the tealight in it. Do you all think it’s cute or no? I will be using battery powered tealights since my venue doesn’t allow open flames.

I think it’s too precious. Maybe something more simple would be better, like a votive holder with a ribbon wrapped once around it? That would use the ribbon.

I would be worried about the fire hazard.

That’s so dangerious that you shouldn’t even consider it. Fabric is flamable.

Until I saw that you said you would use “battery operated” candles, I was just thinking FIRE the whole time lol. I think they are cute.

I realize it’s flammable. I did mention that my tealights are battery ones because I can’t have flames at the venue. I just don’t have my electric tealights here to show as an example.

@Hobokenbride2012: OP said she is using battery powered tealights, not an actual flame.
I think they are cute! Maybe try different colors?

I didn’t see the battery operated part. But they still give off heat.

Very cute. But if you’re afraid it’s too frilly maybe have it a little less full (less layers) or use a different ribbon.

I am absolutely NOT trying to be mean, but you asked opinions and mine is that it seems a little…childish? That’s not the right word maybe, but every time I look at it I just think of a little kid’s tutu. BUT, PLEASE keep in mind that my BF is always telling me that my tastes are “tacky” so maybe I don’t know what looks good to begin with!

@yellowismyfavoritecolor: I’m sorry but I have to agree :/ To me it kind of reminded me of a scrunchie wrapped around a candle.

@peachacid: Yeah I’ve been playing with some simpler votive ideas too. still not sure if this will look too much with the rest of the decor at this point.
@hollyberry4: I think I’ll be trying other colors too. I just happened to have extra white ribbon. I’ll probably be going for an orange to match my theme.
@Hobokenbride2012: good point, I’ll keep that in mind. I’ll be sure to test how hot the ones I bought get.
@Woodstock: good idea. less might look better on this.
@yellowismyfavoritecolor: lol I was thinking the same thing when I was stitching it. I will add that my wedding theme is ridiculous halloween style. so the ribbon will probably be orange to replace using mini pumpkins. but i’m still unsure if I like this or not too.
thank you all for your opinions and concerns on this. feel free to keep them coming
PS hope I didn’t sound snarky in the second post repeating the battery lights

I think simple always looks more elegant, which is why I think you should go for something without frilly ribbon. But if that’s your taste, then that’s fine — it’s your wedding! I’m not going to be there!! That being said…what about the “candles” and the mini pumpkins…using white and orange ones? That would look nice…
