My SO has mentioned a couple of times that he would like an engagement ring or piece of jewelry also. But i already gave him a ring for his 21st, and I don’t like jewelry on men very much, so dont want him to have three rings (21st, engagement, wedder) which he understands would be too much!
But then, I had what I think is the best idea ever! He loves cuff links so I thought of getting him a set that I had engraved to say “YES” and when he asks me I will present him with the cuff links in a lovely box and maybe even propose back to him (being into girl power)???
Thoughts: is this sweet or stealing his thunder

I think that is very sweet!!
I’ve also heard of many women giving their Fiance a watch for an engagement gift.

Thanks! Yeah I gave him a really good Citizen Eco drive on our anniversary as his “engaged to be engaged” present when I got my promise ring. But that is a good idea!

I think it’s sweet! It’s not stealing his thunder unless you somehow ruin the proposal trying to figure out when it is so you make sure you have the cuff links with you etc etc IMO

That is really cute! I love your idea… makes me really envious that my boy doesn’t wear shirts with French cuffs.
I think it will be such a sweet keepsake… every time he wears them he’ll remember your answer 🙂

I don’t think thats ‘stealing his thunder’. He asked for some sort of jewlery so thats what your doing. I think the cuff links are a really cute idea!! And now he can wear them at the wedding and remember when he proposed!( not like guys will look at it and be all ‘ awww’ like we would be haha)

I love that idea! Now you’ll just have to carry the cuff links around with you constantly for the several months… 🙂

That’s not stealing his thunder at all. As much as it is your moment it’s his too. That way he’s not empty handed.

I think it’s a cute idea but I have another suggestion. (Just because I don’t know that many guys that wear cuff links every day) You could get him a puzzle ring and give him half of it when you get engaged and the other half when you get married. You know the you were his missing puzzle piece and by marrying you he becomes complete sort of thing.

I found out about my FI’s “surprise engagement” about a month before it was going to happen. Since it was near Christmas and I was going to buy him a big gift anyways, I went out and bought him a guitar for an engagement/Christmas gift. He had no idea. It was great to see a little surprise on his face after he popped the question.
