Good Evening Fellow Bees!
I had a nice conversation with my Future Mother-In-Law over Thanksgiving while we sat down to look through a wedding presentation Fiance and I put together to update her on our planning thus far. When I told her that I intended to walk myself down the aisle, she was supportive but just gave me her honest opinon that she was so sad to think that I would be walking down the aisle alone. She knows that I am not very close with my Father and that I am not inviting him to the wedding just really to keep down on headache and to ensure that the day is not only happy and special for me but for my mother as well who deserves happiness after all the years of sacrifice she has made. I look to my Godfather MUCH more as a Father to me and he has been in my life and been a huge support to me since I was a teenager. It’s for that reason that she suggested that I ask him to give me away. I toyed with the idea before but thought maybe since it can’t be my actual father, then maybe it shouldn’t be anyone at all but we both know how very much it would mean to him if I asked such a thing of him on our special day.
I would like to ask him in a non-traditional way and do something a bit more than just a phone call asking would he give me away. I know there are so many cute ideas out there on how to ask somone to be a bridesmaid but does anyone happen to have ideas of a cute way I could ask him to give me away? Maybe a sweet poem or anything creative? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
