@WhitTX: Have you tried online retailers? You can browse lots of settings and stones there. Also, the prices tend to be lower because you aren’t paying for a name brand mark up or brick and mortar store.

My ring came from http://www.adiamor.com It’s a cushion cut on a pave band (no halo).

Other good sites are http://www.bluenile.com and http://www.brilliantearth.com

A lot of them have great return policies too so if you get the ring and don’t like it, you can send it right back.

I was losing heart as well, we tried looking at EVERYTHING we could afford. I thought I wanted a three stone ring with round brilliants. Then I wanted three stone princess cut. Then I found a halo ring and fell in love with it, so I wanted a three stone halo princess cut. Then I also found out about channel set stones so I wanted 3 stone halo princess cut WITH channel set on the side. And I couldn’t find anything, and it really made me sad. However, I went onto Ebay, and lo and behold! I found my perfect ring. Showed my boyfriend, and he laughed and said ‘that’s what you want?’ and I said yes.

So I obsessively checked it and found that it had been bought, and I was so close to crying. I told my boyfriend, and he laughed some more and I was so confused. Until he told me he bought it because he didn’t want ME to buy it for myself and he knew that I was in love with the ring.

So hang in there, and do check eBay! Just be careful who you buy from. Amazon will also have a bunch of jewellery. And keep looking at online jewellers, checking out cuts and metals in person too…

@WhitTX: Tiffany’s and other high street vendors have extremely limited selections, they only stick with what they know or what is their current look and they’re wildly overpriced. They have the same source of diamonds that everyone else has.

Check out Engagement Rings Direct, I know they have really good reviews on Pricescope (also, check out Pricescope). Maybe White Flash as well. I second the ebay suggestion, though some might find that outside their comfort zones.

And for the record, for all the hype, I’ve never seen a tiffany ring I would want for myself, so I feel ya.
