Hello, I’m hoping to bite the bullet and go ahead and book my flowers. Before I do I wanted to get some quick feedback on a couple things:
I’m thinking of only doing bouts for the groom and groomsmen and parents. That means leaving out the grandparents. Is this acceptable? Do people do that?
I’ve heard of people swapping bouts for pocket squares. How much are pocket squares to rent? Is it better to buy? Maybe I’ll do a bout for my groom and pocketsquares for the rest (3 groomsmen)?
I’m hoping to book today. Thanks!

I had done our own flowers and made calla lily bouquets and bouts for the BMs and GMs. For the parents, grandparents and ushers I went to walmart and got some nice red roses and used those. I think it was $11 for those and there were a dozen. You could do something like that if the florist is going to charge more than what you want to pay. I haven’t seen the pocket squares in person so I wouldn’t know how that would look if some have bouts and others have those. Good luck.

I am moving this thread to the Flowers board.

You could also buy the grandmothers a brooch or something like that.
I had the MOB and MOG were these- they are made of silk in the same technique that’s used to make hair ornamentation for geishas.

I don’t know the details of your flowers, but cutting out grandparents bouts/corsages really won’t save you much money. The majority of the flower money is on the brides bouquet, centerpieces, and bm’s flowers. My grandma would have cried if I didn’t give her a corsage to wear!

I think you’re better off going with silk flowers for centerpieces and ceremony decor. That’s where most of the money is. Like CaliOCteach said, you won’t save money on the bouts or corsages.
