We’re having a destination wedding and thought by doing so we would cut our expenses by a third. Well after doing the guest list we have a total of 50 people coming and most is my family. And about 15 of the guest are children under the age of 18. I’m scared that I’m getting in over my head with inviting everyone. Any suggestions on what to do? I hate to hurt anyones feelings but in all reality it is OUR day! HELP!!

@MistyB502: it is quite common for a lot of guests to decline for a Destination Wedding, however, every family is different. If you are equally as close to all family members it would be difficult not to invite everyone. We invited 60 but I tihnk around 30 will attend.

@MistyB502: Alot of people decline invites to destination weddings. But like the previous poster wrote it all depends on the family. Most of my immediate family will be attending the wedding where as none on my fiances family besides his parents will be attending. Also my mother wanted to invite tons of her friends but I drew the line so she could only invite a few couples. Currently we have 47 people booked for our wedding which is next April 🙂

@MistyB502: I think this really depends on how much the travel expense will be. If it’ll be very expensive for your guests, the final guest list will automatically be shorter.
When I just started the wedding planning, my fiance’s parents were too happy, so they invited many of their relatives to our wedding. (My fiance has not seen those relatives for more than 10 years…) My FI’s parents thought it’d be the best opportunity to have “family reunion”. But after I sent out the save the date cards, most of those relatives told my FI’s parents that they would not be able to go.
