(Closed) Dad backed out of officiating

    tell your dad how much it means to you to officiate rather than “forcing” him to do it. he must have said yes for a reason, so remind him of that!

    I think your dad has a point.  If officiating is his job, he might look forward to being just a wedding guest, especially at is child’s wedding.  I would find someone else to perform the ceremony and let him sit back, cry, and just enjoy.

    @ppplll6:  Are you blending traditions or something? Otherwise, would it be possible to just have fiance’s dad do the whole ceremony? I feel like if your dad doesn’t want to be in that role, you shouldn’t push it (annoying as it is three weeks ahead).

    What about having your finace’s dad do the whole thing? If he wants too, then it shouldn’t be a problem at all. I wouldn’t convince him to do it because he obviously just wants to watch you get married, as your father, not as your pastor.
