Scott Hah, the author I recommended, is a former protestant minister, turned Catholic. The books actually show the entire mass and what we do from Scripture 😉 May be a good read

Well, the biggest differences for me were things like knowing when to cross myself, learning the responses, learning the prayers that everyone else knows by heart…. all things we never did at our Sunday services. At first I felt as though our religions were a million miles apart, and that I’d been really naive thinking they weren’t just because they worshipped the same God. It really upset me and I wanted Fiance to come to a Protestant service to see if he would understand what it was like to think you knew a religion then feel like you didn’t.

I did the RCIA classes to learn more about it because I couldn’t bear the thought of feeling like that at our wedding and that really helped because it reafirmed in my mind that no, they are very similar and the more I went to mass the more I realised that.

I don’t feel it goes against my roots, but I have only felt that the more I’ve learned about it. At the start I definitely felt I wasn’t being true to myself but now I would be confident in reassuring my family who initially had doubts that I haven’t changed my beliefs in any way, shape or form.

Hope that helps!

I feel like it is a generational thing.  My Dad always tells me about the way that when he was a kid they (Catholics) were enemies of the Prodestant kids.  That’s just the way it was.

But these days, I agree with you that it is all in the same realm.

Wow, that’s really awesome! You’re def. taking a very proactive approach, and I commend you on that!

You can probably find a downloadable talk from Scott Hahn called, “Rome Sweet Home.” It’s his conversion story, so I know a lot of protestants find that helpful, and he was a pastor and VERY protestant, lol…
