My favorite movie of basically all time is An American Tale. I’ve been trying to figure out a nice, sentimental song to dance to with my dad, but nothing mushy gushy, because I am not a “daddy’s girl” at all. I was thinking of dancing to the song “Somewhere Out There” from an American Tale- Linda Rondstadt and James Ingram version (not the singing mouse).
What do y’all think? Does it kind of fit? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9r-TvtGCTo

YES! I’ve always loved this song – so sweet. I think it would be perfect for you and your dad! 🙂

Hmm, I love that movie, but the song reminds me of A) My sisters and I watching it as children and B) My Fiance and I in our long distance relationship. For me, it’s a sad song, but I guess it was sung for family, so maybe. I’m sure you’ve done a lot of searching, so I’ll just share what we’re using;
Mother/Daughter: Fleetwood Mac, Landslide (yup, dancing with my mama. We love Fleet and this song is the nail in the head). Great song for children + parents.
Father/Daugher: What A Wonderful World, Louis Armstrong, or Melissa by the Allman Brothers (song I was named after, but I’m worried I will BAWL and BWAL)
Mother/Son: Have I Told You Lately, Rod Stweart. My Future Mother-In-Law has always sang this song to Fiance. Really sweet 🙂
