I’m sure since both fathers are wearing navy suits it will be fine.  And if it does look like it sticks out too much- opt to have your family photos printed in black and white.  What are your colors? If blue or navy is one of them, and the mothers will be wearing shades of blue, the fathers wont stand out at all.

You could express that to them and see how they respond. But at the same time, mothers (and step mothers) of the bride and groom dont match the bridesmaids-there is also no rule saying that the fathers have to match the groomsmen.  If it something important to you though, you need to speak up. They wont know it is bothering you unless you say something.

I’m in a similar predicament – Fiance and groomsmen are wearing chocolate brown tuxes, my dad is wearing grey suit and we’re not sure if FI’s dad will even be there.  My dad isn’t walking me down the aisle so that’s why he’s not wearing a tux (he doesn’t want to rent one).  Family photos are the only time I think it could possibly look weird, but I’m not going to stress over it.

I have the same issue–with the same colors. The guys are wearing black suits that they either have or will purchase. FIs dad has a ton of suits in every color, so he’s not an issue, but my dad has one suit in navy. The thought of him wearing the navy drives me nuts, even though I’m sure it wouldn’t look bad. I’ve talked him (well, my mom) into going out and getting a black suit for the wedding so he matches, but that’s just me.

@LinzyJo: Just revisited this–sorry. He won’t be mad or upset. He’s going to half heartedly moan and complain about spending the money because he never wears the suits, but if it makes me (and mom who is wearing black) happy, it won’t be a big deal for him.
