This is my first post, although I’ve spent a lot of time looking around these boards, and I just have a question regarding the setting of my e-ring. My SO gave me my dream ring, and I was so in love with it for a very long time, until I kept having countless problems with the setting. The prong work was weak, diamonds kept falling out and it was spending more time at the jewellers than on my finger. Even taking it to several jewellers didn’t help, because it seemed like they would resolve one issue and create another. I was so sick of paying for so many repairs only to have another problem a month later. So I recently ordered a new setting for it. When it arrived, I wash shocked at how dainty it was, but thought it would be fine. I called around to several jewellers that I had used for my previous ring, and the quickest timeline I received was 5 weeks. FIVE WEEKS to set a stone? That seemed excessive. I’m very much a “jewelry person” and after spending some time looking at the setting I thought “I can do this myself…” I figured the worst case scenario was I would damage the setting, at which point then I can cut my losses and just drop it off (yet again) at the jeweller. The way I wanted the stone set was different than any ring setting I’d ever seen, and so I thought I would give it a try. It turned out great!! I am SO happy with it, the diamond is completely secure, and the prongs are completely flush and smooth against the stone, so they don’t get caught on anything! yay! But now my worry is that, the band on the ring is about 1.1mm wide…Due to this fact I bought the setting in 10k because I was worried about anything softer. Can anyone else with super duper skinny e-ring bands let me know what metal it is and how it’s held up? I guess I just need some reassurance.
Thanks for everyone who stuck with me to the end of this post lol sorry it was so long
