I am planning on having damask table runners at my reception. This will be a DIY project and I just can’t see myself paying the $20-$30 each. I will need fabric for about 30 tables. Anyone know where I can find damsk patterned fabric either on-line or in the Chicago area for less than $4/ yard?

I searched high and low for black/white damask material. The cheapest I found was $6.98/yard at http://www.warehousefabricsinc.com.
It won’t be listed under "damask." The two prints I ordered were "Madison Black" and "Traditions Black."
My other struggle was finding material that was a true white. Most damask fabrics are black and ivory, but these materials from Warehouse Fabrics really are a true white. I will say I’m pleased with this fabric, and am currently in the process of making my runners.
Hope that helps!

http://www.fabricsdirect.com is a site I use sometimes when I need whole bolts of fabric, simple and quick without going to the fabric stores or my Wholesalers in NYC. They sell at Wholesale prices to the Public, and honestly their prices are hard to beat.

I used ebay and etsy.com for my damask fabric. I searched for words like "floral" or "scroll" or other things than "damask" before I found the perfect one. Mine is a tan-on-ivory damask pattern (Michael Miller Dandy Damask Latte). I did’t see anything for less than $4- $6.98 is a great price and I think I found mine for around $7-8 a yard.

I found mine at Hobby Lobby. Can’t remember how much it was though…maybe like $4/yard?

Try http://www.fabric.com. Their prices are reasonable, plus you can find 20% off and free shipping codes online.

I second the fabric.com place. I ordered the Madison Black for table runners for 30 six foot long tables (20 yards, getting 4 runners across the 54" width) with a coupon code for $111.68. Can’t really beat that! Comes out to about $3.70 per runner.

I had the same issue as you. Was looking for a pretty damask fabric for a runner for months and found nothing.
One day in january, I walked into this decor shop and I found table runners in the EXACT fabric I was looking for (black organza with black velvet damask print and a black satin border–they had other colours).
They were on super ultra clearance sale–$2.99 a piece. CANADIAN! I bought enough for all my tables. I was all set for a DIY project but I found a exactly what I needed for less than what it would have cost me to do it myself.
Morale of the story, walk in to every store. You may find curtains that have the exact pattern you’re looking for…if you’re lucky, they may be on sale.
By The Way, the store I found my runners at is called JYSK.
