I was wondering if anyone took/are taking dancing lessons for your first dance as husband and wife? Fiance and I are coming up on lesson 7 of 12. If you saw us prior to the lessons you might have shot us to put us out of our misery (yes, we’re that bad of dancers). But we’ve come around greatly in only 6 lessons (we are learning to waltz).
The only thing I don’t like about the lessons is that I was hoping we would learn an actual routine, but our instructor is teaching us walktz moves/steps not an actual set routine. Our instructor explained that my Fiance will “lead” the dance (she said it would be easier that way so that we would not freak out if we learned a routine and got behind or messed a step up). Still….I think I would have liked a routine.

The Fi and I will be taking lessons too! Were not bad dancers, but we wanted it to be a fun learning experience too! We’ll be dancing to a Frank Sinatra song and we thought it’d be appriopiate to do something that went with the song! I can’t wait to start!

We didn’t have lessons for our wedding, but when we were first dating he got us dance lessons as a Valentine’s gift to me – we ended up going to lessons for 6 months.
If it makes you feel more comfortable, make a routine for yourselves. If you practice it enough and don’t make it too complicated, you’ll be fine.

My mom and my dad took lessons because my dad refuses to dance. They look great! My dad and I have been practicing our Father Daughter Dance and it looks so smooth. Unfortunately now my first dance with my soon-to-be husband is going to pale in comparison.

We didn’t take dance lessons, as a choreographed dance just wasn’t our thing. We’re both pretty laid back, so we didn’t want anything too formal looking.

We both already know how to dance. It’s one of the things that made me realize he was perfect for me.

Future Mother-In-Law wanted us to, but honestly, it’s not as big a deal to us, so we’ll “forget” about it…

My Fh didn’t dance at all, and I LOVE to dance. His grandmother gave us a very generous check for our engagement party and we decided to take lessons with it. We’re learning the Foxtrot for our first dance, but our package comes with class lessons as well, so we’re learning a little bit of everything – swing, waltz, rhumba etc. so we can dance on our honeymoor cruise as well!

We’re not taking dance lessons, but we have a reputation of being amazing dancers…haha. We went swing-dancing for our first date and haven’t been the same since! With a bit of practice, we nailed down a great, natural-feeling routine.
