The dancing at my reception is going to take place outside underneath a tent on a brick terrace overlooking a river. Do you think I’d need a wood dance floor? Or would the brick be ok? Not trying to spend the extra money unless I really have to.

Brick is fine. No need to rent anything else.

I can understand you not wanting to rent a dance floor when you already have a hard surface for people to dance on, but I think it might be easier for people (both their feet and shoes) if you went ahead with the wood dance floor.
Here is Distinctive Event Rentals, they have a 12X12 outdoor use floor for $216:
I would talk to them about the price and see if they can give you some type of discount. Good luck!!!

I think the brick would be fine!

Hmmm…that’s not as much as I thought it was… Thanks Daisylynn. Do you think 12 x 12 is big enough for 80ish guests?

A 12X12 dance floor will fit about 30 guests comfortably and not every one will be dancing at once. I wouldn’t go any bigger unless you think more people will dancing at one time.

If the brick is even with no cracks for your heels or anyone else’s to get stuck in, I think it is fine. Otherwise, a dance floor may be needed.
