We are going to do our first dance. He is going to dance with his mom. But I am not close to my dad, and I am not sure if I want to do a dance. Actually, I’d rather dance with my step dad, but I don’t want to hurt any feelings. Is it weird to have mom son dance but not daughter father dance? Would it be obvious we didn’t do a father dance? Would you as a guest thing something is wrong?

If your dad/step dad will be there, I think it could be strange. I would nix the parent dances.

whoa_its_ash: I would love to just nix all of them. But his mom has been looking to the dance all his life. He is a momas boy, but in a good way. This puts me in a spot. 🙁 Do you think its ok to do moms dance and leave out dad dances?

Could you split the dance between the two dads? Or maybe it would be less awkward if you did a dance with your Dad at the same time fiance is dancing with his Mom?

It’s your wedding! If they really want their dance and you dont want yours then let them have theirs and dont do yours! Who cares what anyone else thinks.

It’s your wedding so do what YOU want. My husband and Mother-In-Law didn’t want to dance but I still had my dance with my father.
