Has anyone taken dance lessons in the Denver area?
Fiance and I just made the final decision on our first dance song. We aren’t big dancers, and Fiance is nervous about having all eyes on us. We’re pros at the Middle School Sway, so we could just do that and have a quiet moment to ourselves to talk. FI’s brother-in-law, who is more dance-savvy, listened to our song and said it’s a great song for a waltz. We found some how-tos on Youtube, but I know from my days of being on the high school dance squad (lol) that there’s nothing like being taught in person. Any recommendations?

I’m also very interested if anyone has suggestions – we’re definately needing dance help! Not-so-proud members of the Middle School Sway lol

Check out the Mercury Cafe. I don’t know for sure if they do lessons but I would bet they have them. Even if they don’t, I would recommend going dancing and just see what you can pick up from watching other people and “practicing.”
ETA: Looks like they have Swing, Salsa and Tango lessons!
Oh, and if you learn the basics of swing dancing you’ll be able to manage a waltz, or at least look like you know what you’re doing to one. 😉

Thanks, caitlanc. I’ve heard of the Mercury Cafe but I never really knew what it was. I think my fiance would like going to watch others for a while (probably a long while) before trying it ourselves…he’s a shy one!
And we feel silly doing it, but youtube is helping. We hooked his computer up to our TV and followed along with some lessons on youtube.

If you are looking for dance lessons try “Adventures in Dance”, I belive they are in Littleton. They sometimes do othe events in other areas of town too. I work in the wedding industry and I am also planning my wedding (in Mexico). I see them all the time and they are very easy to work with!! Good luck!!

Yep, we decided to go with Adventures in Dance in Littleton. They have an affordable wedding package! I think I’ve convinced my parents to go there as well.

I liked them! Although I think you need much more instruction than what they offer in their wedding package (if you come into it with no dancing experience like us, especially). You get two 25 minute private sessions, which are great, but not enough in my opinion. Included in the package is one group session and one “practice party.” The practice would be good if you don’t have a place to practice at home. But the group session isn’t helpful for us because they only do group sessions for specific dances (one dance per month) and they aren’t doing our dance (foxtrot) any time soon. We may go back for more private lessons – beyond the wedding package described above, you can add a number of hours for more money. If we can fit it into our budget, we’ll go back – but if not, we’ll abandon our foxtrot. The two lessons were fun anyway. Fiance and I have never done anything like that before. I do recommend them because the instructors we had were great.
