So it just sort of occurred to me that my entire venue is carpeted. It’s not like thick plush carpet, but it’s a dinner theatre so it have that really thin carpet all over the place (I hope that makes sense).
So the issue that I’m just thinking about is that the dance floor is all carpet, but I don’t know if you can dance on carpet? Can you?
I just spoke to my contact at the venue, and he said other weddings have just danced on the carpet with no issues, but he said we could hire a company to bring in a real dance floor for us if we wanted to (so the dance floor would be tile instead of carpet).
I know it’s not a huge deal, but what would you do?

I would bring in a rental company to put a dance floor. I don’t think it’s a huge deal, but it would probably look/feel better. We were planning to do this if we went with a venue that had all carpet, but most venues had a floor you could rent.

I would go with the dance floor, personally, because I love to dance, have a lot of dancer friends, and a carpet just has too much friction to really be able to dance well. I guess it depends on how much of a priority the dancing is for you and your guests, though.

@KCKnd2: It’s a big priority. We are a dancing crowd, and I want everyone dancing as much as possible.

To be honest, as a guest I’ve never looked down and admired the dance floor. But I might have noticed if it wasn’t there? I really don’t know. I’d get some quotes and see about bringing one in.
