Wow, here it is. The post I have always wanted to make, and one I sometimes never thought would get here!! Before I begin, I must say that my wedding wouldn’t have been what it was without Weddingbee. I got so many great ideas on here, help with so many questions, but more than anything I had such an amazing support system that helped me stay relatively sane! I love you all so much.
Now! My wedding! I absolutely love recap posts so this one will be nice and long, with a million pictures. I’ll try to break it up somewhat and not make it too boring!
Before I begin my recap, I’ll show you our awesome photographer’s teaser shots:
DH (yay! no more FI!) & I got married on June 19, at 10:30am, in Franklin, TN at my parents’ home. It was wonderful but of course not perfect. One of my fears from the get-go came true: it was unbearably hot. The heat index must have been near 100 by the time our brunch reception was really going, at about noon. We had every provision you could think of – paper fans, bottled water, smoothies, both big and small electric fans, a tent that provided plentiful shade – and still, more than half of the guests I spoke to said, “You look beautiful! It’s so freaking hot!” Our brunch reception went by quickly because of the heat, with probably 1/3 of the guests gone by the time we cut the cake about an hour in.
Do I regret having an all-outdoor wedding during the day in the summer in Tennessee? Not at all! It was still beautiful, people still raved about it. We are very lucky to have had a sunshiny day! And most importantly, I got married at my parents’ house, which was a dream come true.
Next up: Non-professional pictures!

We had to get up super early to be all ready for pre-ceremony pictures at 8:30am. I got up to shower at about 4:30am, and even though our awesome hair stylists were there at 5:30, we were still running late for pictures and had to shelve a lot for after the ceremony. I fear that we didn’t get as many formal pictures of my family and I as I had hoped, but c’est la vie.
Also, I sucked and somehow lost my vows on my computer, and so I had to rewrite those late Friday night and early Saturday morning. I was a tired and stressed bride! I also had hardcore nerves. I was shaking and generally freaking out.
However, after I got my dress on and we finally got going for pictures, I realized – I’m a bride! This is my wedding day! I get to marry my love! And I got happier. It was so fun to watch the guests arrive in the front yard from my childhood bedroom window.
This was our ceremony set-up:
I was one excited wife-to-be!
Next up: our ceremony!

It’s funny how when you plan a wedding, all you think about are the details, but then when you get married, the details stop mattering and all you think about is the ceremony. Our ceremony was perfect. It was special and personal and spiritual. I was on a high from it for the rest of the day, and may have been somewhat impolite when talking to guests, because I know I said several times, “Wasn’t our ceremony awesome?!”
I came downstairs from my childhood bedroom…
To see my sweet brother, who walked me down the aisle:
which was one of the best moments of my life!
Next to seeing my sweet husband’s face:
and of course, next to marrying him!
