MsGinkgo:  I grew up near Rome and we would go to Darien Lake every once in a while. I loved it! I thought it was great. Definitely worth it if you are close by and looking for fun. Granted, this was 20 years ago but it was great then, probably even better now.

ETA: Where are you located? Two hours radius from where? Did I miss it?

IMO, Wonderland is better. Darien Lake is awful and you can’t even get a decent meal anywhere around the park, let alone inside it.

I’d definitely make the trip to Cedar Point.

Honestly, I’d skip it.  I grew up 45 minutes away in Rochester, and Darien Lake is pretty lackluster, especially if you want a whole weekend of activity.    You can do the whole park in less than a day.  The camping grounds are nice, but even if you stay there, and adventure out, there isn’t too much do that way– unless you take a trip to Buffalo, but if you’re from TO I bet that doesn’t appeal much to you, either.

Darien Lake is definitely not Cedar Point, but it is a decent park.  It depends on what your expectations are.  Their on location hotel is overpriced but does include free tickets to the park and free parking.  In my opinion, they have one really good roller coaster (called man of steel now that they cant use the name superman anymore) and a few other okay ones.  They have a decent waterpark with some new stuff they recently added.  They did sometime recently add an Anchor Bar in the park, so if you like Buffalo wings, that is one decent food choice.  I have to add that our wedding venue was nearby, so we decided to take our wedding party there the day after our wedding.  We had a blast.  But if you are expecting something of Universal Studios or Busch Gardens quality, you will probably be disappointed.  It is basically a slightly run down Six Flags.  Wait times vary, but when we went it was in the 30 min to 1 hour range for most roller coasters. I am including a photo for you because it is hilarious… we got my husband’s brother (behind us) to go on a roller coaster for the first time in his life…

slove:  on this one. i grew up and still live in Rochester. I go maybe once a summer. But it’s just your average theme park. Then again being local, I also consider Niagara Falls pretty lackluster and people ooh and ah about that so much! Not as nice and pretty when it’s so easily accessable.

I live about 20 minutes away from Darien Lake and go to all the country concerts they have there but honestly hate the park . Don’t think we have been for a few years and probably won’t go back lol

MsGinkgo:  I haven’t been to Montreal. Have you done the Thousand Islands? I loved that.

I’m trying to think of options for you. 😀
