(looks like my text didn’t post so, I am reposting)
I’m looking for dark blue – a little lighter than navy and not a royal or cobalt blue for my girls’ dresses.
None of the colors online look the same in stores! I’m wondering if any of you have experience wearing a bm dress (or selecting one for your girls) that matched up with that color.
I kind of like Marine at DB – there’s a little something different about it than a dark navy. I’ve seen Bill Levkoff’s navy – which is nice, but I’d like lighter. And I’m intersted in Dessy/After 6 sailor, but I’m afraid in person it will be too royal blue.
Just looking for some guidance – thanks!

Im using Horizon for mine but im guess you want to go darker. You might try getting some color swatches from DB because sometimes they dont look the same online

@bsbee: I did buy Marine and another one – maybe Peacock? Marine is the closest so far.
I saw the blog post on the navy bm dresses this morning and it reminded me to bump this thread.
Any bees have any suggestions? Thanks so much.

I ordered the Alfred Angelo swatches, they are WAY different than online colors–the Mediterranean Blue is beautiful. Here is a cell phone pic of the swatches, you can see how different it is, and the cell doesn’t really show the exact shade but it’s better than online.
Their swatch card was $6. I can try to take better pics of it if you want!
Actually looking at this on my monitor, the colors aren’t exactly what the swatches are–they are deeper and more vibrant but it’s still better than the online shades.

I love the DB Marine colour. Its dark but not too dark. I find some navy fabric looks way too dark almost black. I would also suggest getting swatches from the designer or going to a store to see swatches. You can’t tell from online because every computer screen makes the colour look different.

@Ms. Dove: I have the EXACT same problem – I think I am driving my BM’s crazy because I keep shooting down dresses based only on color. After weeks of searching, I’d say DB marine and alfred angelo mediterranian are the bests. Every other company has just seemed to deep navy or bright cobalt. Are your guys doing black suits/tuxes?

My bridesmaids will be wearing Dessy/Alfred Sung dresses in Electric blue. Definitely looks ALOT brighter online, but in real life (just got them the other day) – they’re closer to navy.

My girls are wearing DB Marine and it is such a beautiful blue, dark enough to be dark, but light enough that you can still see that its blue and it shimmers so pretty!

@SarahJW: your girls’ dresses are beautiful! i’m adding that to my list. I also was looking at the color “sailor” by dessy/alfred sung – did you happen to check that one out?
@sehrler: thanks for posting this! i’m adding alfred angelo to my list to look at!
@gonatgo:, @cdubz: i do think i could wind up with marine. plus the dresses i like are so reasonable and look great on my girls. just worried about the customer service aspect, i hear not-so-great things about the store in my area
@LBeth: i’m glad i’m not the only one with this problem 🙂 i think we may look at dark gray tuxes. i’m happy to let my Fiance decide, he is pretty old-school and is leaning toward black. i think i would prefer grey, but i’ve seen pics with black tuxes and i think it looks fine. what are you doing?
