I’ve been stressing for a while about what kind of engagement ring to get. I love pink/red sapphires or padparadsha sapphires but I’m not sure I should get this for my engagement ring. I’m worried that I might get tired of it or that people will think it’s weird. When I try on sapphire rings I’m way more excited about them than diamond ones. Anyone who has colored gemstone ring haven you gotten tired of it? Do you think I should go with a classic diamond? Has anyone gotten a diamond ring and than wish they got a colored stone instead?

Go with what excites you. I’ve got a tanzanite engagement ring and I love it. No one thinks it’s weird and if they do? So what? It’s on my finger not theirs! Diamonds don’t do anything for me, they never have done. I always knew I’d go with something different.
I never get tired of showing it off either, so here it is!

Can you get a pink CZ to wear around for a little bit to make sure you will be happy? That is what I did. I bought a brown moissy and wore it for a while before buying a brown diamond. It made me feel better about my choice.

I will never get tired of my sapphire engagement ring. We got it on a whim really, and I am soooo thankful I didn’t follow the status quo and get a clear stone just because many people do. If I ever get an upgrade I will definitely go for another coloured sapphire (padparadsha sapphires are to die for).
Seriously, go for what you love and what makes you excited. For what its worth I know several people with sapphire or coloured gemstone e-rings, so I don’t think anyone will think its weird.

I also have a sapphire that I love! But again, in my friend group 3 of us have sapphires (all different colors) so it’s not that different for me. I agree with wearing on on your hand for a while to see if you like it. I personally love the colored stones. It’s more me and I just could never get excited about a colorless diamond on a white gold band. It’s too plain for my style! And I also love showing it off so here it is!

Pad saphs are sooo beautiful! If diamonds dont make your heart sing but a sapphire does, go for the sapphire!

I’ve had my ruby for five years now. I’ll never get tired of it. It’s beautiful and I love it. It’s the birthstone of both me and my fiance, also the month we’re getting married. It’s more meaningful to me than a diamond would be.

I wanted a colored center stone but it was important to DH that I have a diamond. So we compromised and I have a white diamond center stone with emerald accents and my band is all emeralds. It gives me that flash of color that I love, and he got to buy the diamond that he wanted to give me.
After 3 years, I still love it. Although I’d definitely wear a colored center stone if we ever upgraded for an anniversary or something.
