We found dessy.com to be helpful… I don’t remember how much the price ranges were though.

My color is dark purple, more jewel tone, but my BMs got there’s at David’s. They’re not long, but they  have long in Lapis color, which is dark purple and they’re inexpensive. Also check out Alfred Angelo – they have dark eggplant and grape and several styles, all reasonable prices.

I was looking for eggplant, long maid dresses for my upcoming October wedding.  I chose three different styles at David’s, all in LAPIS. It is a very dark purple, more grape than plum.  I love it!  It compliments all skin tones.  The dress is also really reasonable – $145, I think.  They have other styles as well, but I wanted them all to be the same fabric.

 Check it out!

Here are my girls dresses.  They were Jim Hjelm.  If your girls woudln’t mind used dresses my girls may be willing to sell.  Only hitch is they all wore different dresses, except for the Jrs.  Let me know what you think?

I am looking for the exact same thing! I’m finding lots for other people but not for me….

http://www.Newport-news.com has one in the Romatic section (they show it in black.) It’s georgette and georgeous and I was going to use it until they ran out of ONE of my maid’s size.

I just got an email from http://www.EXPRESS.com today about their maxi dresses and they have a purple halter one. Very pretty, but I am looking for something with a natural waist, not empire.

All the best to you! If you see something for me, let me know!

My girls have the Priscilla of Boston in the aubergine (which comes up on my computer light purple but is 100 percent plum). http://www.priscillaofboston.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=603&sfid=50714&f=’ defer=’defer

The Web site doesn’t do it justice theres criss-crossing under the bust and a sash in the back. They were $205 with a discount, it was more than I wanted them to pay, but it fit all 8 of my girls so well they wanted to pay more for them

My girls will be wearing these dresses in Plum by Lazaro:

http://www.jlmcouture.com/Lazaro/Bridesmaid/Spring/2009/Style-3943

They’re long and made of jersey knit material.  4 out of 5 of my BMs were able to try these on before we decided on them, and they all LOVE them.  They’re super flattering on all of my girls, even though they all have different body styles.  It’s difficult to see in this picture, but the dress is just super flattering, with a sort of drape-y, faux-wrap silhouette.

The only down side is that, at $300, they don’t meet your price parameter… they weren’t really in our budget, either, but I got a discount from my boutique because I ordered my gown from there as well, and I am splitting the cost with my BMs so that it’s not too much of a burden on any of us (them or me!).

Keep us updated with what you choose!  I think there are a lot of dark purple brides out there right now…

I used Nordstroms because they have a great dress selection online. We chose plum, but they are not floor length.

my bridesmaids are wearing plum purple from Alfred Angelo.  They have a great selection of gowns, many of which come in plum/grape.

This is their dress

Banana Republic has some new dresses that they are calling "wedding perfect." Check it out here: http://perfectbound.blogspot.com/2009/05/banana-republic-wedding-perfect-looks.html

If you want a long dress in a dark color like purple for summer, you’d be smart to stick to a light material like cotton. Satin may make your girls miserable in the heat! I just love this Nicole Miller gown. She has some amazing dresses in her collection and so many on sale too!
