haha this is soo me. I have been growing them out to have them “ready” just in case. I have had to cut them twice because of chips…but luckily they can still look nice if they are short . Have you tried Nailtiques? I love it and it works great! A little pricey but it definitely helps.

I had a shellac manicure a few weeks ago and since it came off every single nail is cracked!! PLUS I slammed a finger into a door and now thats bruised. Yikes!

I’m trying to grow my nails out as well, except I’m a chronic nail biter. 🙁 It’s a really bad habit, and I’m happy to break it, but it’s hard! I’ve had long nails, but I’m not sure that I like them.

I too have to stop nail biting. I don’t do it too much but enough. Also I have a tendency to forget that I am wearing nail polish and it ends up looking chipped and icky. Icky i tell you LOL

This sounds crazy, but have you tried prenatal vitamins?  My friends took them (they were planning for a baby) but, they said their hair and nails were the best ever!

@Kenic315:  Those prenatal vitamins really do work!  I’ve taken them leading up to special events to get my hair and nails looking extra nice.  The only thing is you have to watch your diet and not take them long term since they have too much of some nutrients and not enough of others if you’re not pregnant or soon-to-be.

Haha…too funny. I actually got a really good manicure recently and showed my SO (apparently he notices and points out when it’s not so great). He proposed this week…I can’t help but wonder if my nails played a role in that!

I actually started getting crystal manicures about a year ago specifically to prepare for the proposal! Ha.

My nails grow just fine on their own but it doesn’t stop me from managing to rip off a nail every 6 weeks like clockwork. I’ll get nice maintainable 1/4″ tips on my nails then something always happens and I’m back to square 1. Sigh, 3 weeks left for this cycle.

@CupcakeLove:  Ow!! Ive heard good things about shellac manicures and was thinking of getting those. Do you think it was worth the $$?

Hahah I was doing the same thing, and then mine all chipped at work one day and I had to cut them all off. Now they are stubby again and they were when we got engaged. Oh well. Winter is hard on the nails.
