Hi bees. So I am the Maid/Matron of Honor in my best friend’s wedding. I am doing up her shower invitations, but I am stumped on how to word this. She wants people to bring gifts that are related to a “date” she could take with her husband-to-be. For example: a gift certificate to a restarant, or a blanket and picnic food recipe book, or Latin dance CDs. She wants people to write down their date idea to put in a Pinterest-style “date night jar”, but she also wants the physical gift to be related to the idea.
How do I word that on invites?!

stokesto : Ugh that’s so precious and involved. I don’t envy you.
If you’re doing evites it will be easy to include a short description under whatever ‘more info’ space there is. “Help keep the romance alive! Pleasee bring a gift that Theodora and Elias can use on a fun date.” Just do the jar thing at the shower itself and don’t try to dictate that people explain to her how to use a picnic blanket.
(you should also warn people to keep it PG if there’s young ones or grandmas attending–that theme would be taken as an opportunity for sex toys and lingerie by some of my friends).

There are quite a few examples online for “date night shower invitations”.
You could enclose a business size card in the invitation and ask each guest to write out the date night idea and bring it separately to the shower so it can be placed in the jar. Or, they could bring it in the card envelope attached to their gift and the cards could be added to the jar at the shower.
