Hi Bees, can you guys share some of your date night ideas? We’re big foodies, so we go out to eat a lot already, but I wanted to add some ideas to the repertoire. So what do you do, or want to do, when you are out with your SO/FI/DH??
Can’t wait to hear these… I’m sure you bees have awesome dates!

@SoupyCat: We like to cook together at home (our favorite, Homemade chili cheese fries!) and we hook up the Rockband, break open some homebrew and rock the night away! Hahaha, this is most likely our plan for tonight 🙂

I found a couple good ones on http://www.hotdateideas.com/date-ideas-main. Some are cheesy, but others are really fun ideas.

my favorite date night is take out chinese and a really good movie. We will move our coffee table and throw down our comfortor and tons of pillows and veg out all night. There are also tons of shopping centers around here that do live music on friday or saturday nights so we will go there sometimes and share a bottle of wine or two.

We always cook together, put in a movie, share a bottle of wine or have a few mixed drinks, make some snacks, and just relax.

If we want to head out, then we check out Groupon, LivingSocial, and Amazon’s groupon version (I can’t recall the name right now) and see what deals are out there.
Otherwise, we may splurge and order in food and just hang out and watch a movie we take out from the library or watch from Instant Netflix. If we want to head out, we may go out to share a dessert (usually with a gift card or coupon of sorts) and then walk around some where (downtown areas, mostly, but we’ve been known to peruse Target late at night). We enjoy thrifting and antique stores, so we like to go to those places during the day. And green markets. Sometimes we just stay in and play games (Scrabble is the latest addiction).
We try to make our date nights frugal. Sometimes date nights (or afternoons) can be hard work. Trying to make it “special” can even make me stressed and more tired, so we opt for as casual and everyday as possible. We just make it a point not to get distracted (phone calls, the laundry piling up, etc.) and just focus on being together.

@BetterSherm: I wish I could get my husband to go thrifting and antiquing with me! I always feel like I’m just dragging him…
For us, our regular nightly routine is to cook together, have a glass of wine or beer, and chill out to some TV or netflix. I think tonight we’ll go out to try to catch the latest Woody Allen movie and perhaps grab a drink at a new bar or something.
This weekend, I think we may go try an outdoor cinema and pack a picnic. I do love summer! I can’t wait to perhaps check out a new museum or arboretum or something like that

In the summer, we like to catch a movie in the park or go listen to live music outside. We usually pack a picnic basket with wine, cheese, bread, fruit or grab a few things from the Whole Foods food bar.

@ladeeeda: I think I will try the Whole Foods food bar for our picnic tomorrow (if Darling Husband wants to go, haven’t asked him yet 😉 ). We’re usually TJ’s people, but I like trying new things.

@SoupyCat: We call “date night” having sex. Haha, I think we are deviants.

We went through a Sunday brunch phase, trying out different restaurants and either going with friends or by ourselves. Now we have a favorite cafe for Sat. morning coffee.
Now that its summer, taking a walk in the city is alwways nice, window shopping, stopping for ice cream. We also like cooking together, usually we make this a bigger deal than it needs to be though. Try following recipies together for new things that is always fun. Usually our “dates” involve errands like grocery shopping or getting hair cuts lol. Since we don’t live together at the moment we only see each other on the weekends when things need to get done.
I’m also always interested in new ideas for date night!

We live in central Florida, so there’s a bunch of touristy things in our area.
We’ve gone mini golfing a few times. We’ll hit up the art and science museums when they’re free or half price. Picnics, afternoons at the dog park with the whole family, hiking in Wekiva Springs, kayaking. We like hot air balloon rides (we take one once a year). There’s this place where we painted some ceramic thing and then had the place fire it up – that was fun. We go bowling sometimes. We shoot pool.
Sometimes we just take a walk. 🙂
