We just decided on Oct 20, 2012 last week…every vendor I have contacted so far is available that date.  You can totally do it!!

You could definitely pull off October. You’re probably have to start looking at photogs/venue really soon but it’s more than doable.

Fiance and I settled on October after we decided that November and December were too cold for an outdoor ceremony (we moved our date twice). I don’t know if it’s one of the most popular months but I’m pretty sure it’s conidered “off-season” for weddings, meaning venues don’t charge as much of a premium as they do during the spring/summer months.

ETA: We officially booked our date last month.

Yes it is doable. I got engaged Dec 24th, 2010 and got married on October 22nd. I did a ton of stuff on my own and DIY. We had a wedding with 140 pple, and I could have planned it all in a much shorter time. You will be fine. My only advice would be to pick your venue, florist and photographer within the next couple weeks!!! (venue first of course 🙂 Good luck!

You can totally do something in that amount of time, and if you’re starting with a blank slate so much the better! I don’t know much/anything about your area, but it is a good idea to try and nail down a venue asap.

Yes, it can be done. If you choose October, you need to nail down your venue, food, and photographer ASAP.

I absolutely think you can do it, I am in sort of central Ohio and I’m getting married in Mansfield (if you know where that is) I am stressed, but not an abnormal amount I think. i’ve booked reception and ceremony spots at extremely reasonable pricing. Just do it! october is beautiful in Ohio!

@pokey_dc: I agree with lovekiss, but here in Maryland October dates get booked over a year in advance.  I originally wanted October, but when I was looking last December October dates were already gone…  It may not be the same in Ohio, so good luck!

Mehhh – I think (and don’t jump down my throat girls – its just an opinion) a lot of the ladies who frequent this website are planning quite far in advance, and you really don’t need to worry at all.

I was just at a wedding in the DC area this August that was planned in under 6 months and it was fantastic – the venue was absolutely beautiful, the food was great, and they were thrilled with their photographer.

I’ve been planning my own over my winter break these past two weeks in the Boston area – for September – and so far have only encountered two vendors (both photogs) who were already booked.  We got our first choice of venue and caterer.  In fact, a bus driver I contacted said it was too EARLY to book them for September and to call back in March.

You’re fine. Just enjoy the planning. 🙂

It can definitely be done…I got engaged in November and my date is July 28th….I already have my venue, DJ, dress, officiant and photographer…..it’s all in what you want…if you want it you can do it….no matter how much time you have to plan you can make it happen.  My mom got married in 2 months.
