- Wedding: November 2013
This is my first post and wanted to thank you all for your help and opinions in advance. : )
We are planning our date around the venue that we are very committed to having. However, it’s a really popular venue and as such, it books up quick. The earliest two dates are:
1.) Sunday, November 10th, 2013. The Sunday before Veteran’s Day
2.) Saturday, November 30th, 2013. Two days after Thanksgiving
We are both torn because there are pros and cons to both dates. I don’t think the price will be different between the two dates. The place is booked that they know they can ask their price and someone will eventually be willing to pay for it. Here are the arguments:
Arguments for November 10th:
–It might be easier and cheaper for out of town guests to travel this weekend than weekend of Thanksgiving which may be more hectic
–Some people will have off Monday, the 11th b/c of Veterans’ day, allowing them to stay and drink / party at the reception
–The weekend of Thanksgiving, people may want to spend time w/ family/ shopping/ eating leftovers/ watching football/ being lazy, rather than dressing up and going out to a wedding
Arguments for November 30th:
–Most of our guests will either be in town already, or those out of town traveling in already have family in town, so that might kill two birds with one stone for them — ie they get to buy one ticket, see their family on Thursday and Friday, and then come to the wedding on Saturday rather than buying one ticket for our wedding and then another ticket for Thanksgiving.
–On Nov 30th, virtually everyone will have the day off, versus Nov 10, where more people may have to work the following day b/c they don’t get Veteran’s day off
We are both torn and would love your opinions!
