Is January 7th, 2017 too soon after all the holiday chaos for a wedding? for out of town guests?
Options for wedding dates:
Friday – December 2nd, 2016
Saturday – January 7th, 2017
Saturday – January 14th, 2017
I CAN’T DECIDE :(( Please help!

I’d go with the 14th. That just puts a little bit of distance between the holidays and your wedding 🙂

Jan 14 is the best but all three are tough. I just did a Jan 15 wedding this year and getting even one day off from work was hard Because we just had two weeks of shutdown
can you do April? Start of the quarter?

Personally, I think as long as it’s not the weekend before or after Christmas you are fine. However, depending on where you live, I would worry about weather. I am getting married December 10 but wouldn’t do January bc, around here the weather can go from snowing to flip flops in a week.

I think it might be tough for out-of-town guests to arrange days off from work so soon before/after the holidays. Friday weddings are especially tricky, even for locals.

mwd123: If these are your only choices, I vote for January 14th. At least it is in between Christmas & Valentine’S Day.
ETA: If you are in the US, this is a long weekend, Matin Luther King Weekend. So each year, you can have a long weekend anniversary.

If I had to take off of work and travel, 1/7 would be the worst date for me. I take off for a week between Christmas and New Years to visit family so I would have just gotten back to work that Monday. It would be difficult to take off again so soon as work would have piled up.

Thanks for the input guys! I guess I was hoping 1-7-17 wouldn’t be too much since we started dating 7-1 but I agree a breather would be nice for the guests.

- Wedding: November 2016 - New Orleans, LA
mwd123: For people like me, who travel home or to Fiance home for the thanksgiving and christmas holidays, attending a wedding the first couple weeks of January probably wouldn’t happen. Fiance parents live in Arizona, mine live in Michigan and we live in Texas. November and December are always super busy for us. Just my personal experiences 🙂

If you’re in the US, the upside to 1/14/17 is that it’s also MLK weekend. Most people don’t get that Monday off, but some do!
