Hi bees, I’ve been getting my self ready and get everything organized to start plan my wedding next year. My Fiance and I are in a long distance and the wedding is going to be where he lives and we have been looking for venues since last spring and we are going to look at more this summer when i go to visit. Since we cant do things whenever and unless we are together , planning a wedding will be a bit hard until I move next year.
Now our plans are to book a venue by the end of this year if we find one that we love, also we want to do that to lock prices in early and get better deals rather than waiting. Now my question is , how things work with finding a photographer and a DJ to book for the exact same date you book your venue?

I may be misunderstanding your question but you narrow down to a small pool of possible DJs and photographers you’d like to have, then contact them and ask them if they are available on your date. I’m doing all my planning online.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking, but we picked the venue first and then I emailed our top choices for photographer & videographer to see if they had our date available.

Thanks! sorry about the confusion, my question was how it works with booking the photographer and DJ for the same date , obviously it could depend if they are available as well. I was wondering for those brides who had specific photographers that they wanted to hire and made it work with finding the date as the wedding.

I think if you are doing your research and contacting people now you have plenty of time and shouldnt worry – you will find a great photographer and great DJ that will be available on your date!! I canceled my first photographer and didnt book a new one until 2.5 months before our wedding!! And then 1 month before I added a 2nd photographer and it was no big deal!

I guess it depends what your priority is – the date or the venue or the photographer, etc. Go for that first. For us, we chose our venue first (who had the date we wanted, although we were flexible based on what was available). That gave us our official date. Everything else from then on has been based on the other vendors’ availability for our date. If you really want a certain date – find a venue and photographer and such available on that day. If you are set on a specific venue, book that first based on the venue’s availability. Same goes for a photographer or any other vendor you really want.

WIth less than a year to go, I would actually start immediately finding your venue, photographer, and DJ. Since you want to get married in part of peak wedding season, I would suggest doing as much research online as possible, and accepting the possibility of having to make some decisions when you are not physically together with your fiance. This goes especially for any vendors that may be highly sought after (an especially beautiful or affordable venus, or a fabulous photographer for example). I booked at 13 months out and there were still a ton of dates I couldn’t get because they were already booked!
