Yuck. My stepson had it at least three times from his old daycare. Darling Husband threatened to shave his head if the daycare lady didn’t deal with the problem properly and consistently. I don’t think SS’s mom used any home remedies, just the shampoo stuff the doctor recommended. Good luck.

If you go to your dr.  he’ll give u prescription stregnth lice shampoo.  That seems to kill them faster and protects them from re infection for longer than over the counter stuff.  My friends daughter had the same prob. recently.

As a primary school teacher, the kiddies get it all the time – and unfortunately, so do the teachers! The advice we always give to parents is obviously to use the special medicated shampoos (or even just teatree oil-based products), comb and brush ALL the time, and don’t wash their hair too much. Apparently head lice prefer clean hair, so every second day tends to help weed them out. (I go by that rule in the teaching terms too!) Hope she’s not too bothered by them and they clear up soon!

I got lice when i was in the 6th grade and my mom launched a full fledged assault against them (i’m pretty sure she had a phobia):

1. SHe washed my sheets, pillowcases and blankets in hot water every morning til i was free of lice

2.  every night when i would get home, she’d have me lie with my head on her lap and she’d use a lice comb on my whole head to remove all the live ones and eggs, and then drown them in a bowl of rubbing alcohol

3.  WHen that was done, she’d dose my head in the lice shampoo, and wrap it in saranwrap and leave it to cook for an hour (sometimes she made me stand under the heatlamp in the bathroom)

4.  she cut my hair to a pixie length cut when the lice were gone so they’d be easier to deal with

So that business took care of them really quickly for me, but the problem is that once its in a daycare/class/boarding school, it just keeps being passed from kid to kid.  So she forbade me from coming into any contact with anyones head, and i never got them again.  it was hard and uncomfortable but it worked great.

Yikes…Me, my brother and my cousins all got this during a summer vacation when I was 13. They all cut or shaved their heads, used the special shampoo and got rid of in a couple weeks. Because I refused to cut my waist-length hair, mine lasted all summer. It was awful. Finally on someone’s recommendation my grandmother started putting kerosene(!) on my scalp. I do not recommend this as it’s probably not safe and burns the crap out of your scalp! But it did get rid of all the lice, probably by burning them.

medicated shampoo for sure

and vinegar.  Put vinegar on her head and put a shower cap over it and leave it on for awhile.  The vinegar will eat through the eggs.

Hey my nefew got lice from school a while ago and his mother tryed all the medical pruducts and nothing worked only think that worked and i swear to you was mayonnaise It may sound gross but it worked you put it all over the hair and then put a shower cap on and leave it for a couple of hours or the best is over night then you wash it off and dont put shampoo then you use the lice comb and comb the hair. then you repeat it once more and shampoo this time as usual and it should all be gone. but make sure you chage all bed sheets ect.
