MrsCassie, your ring is stunning!!! I love it!

Here is my design, brought to life by David Klass. It’s a 1.86ct antique cushion cut diamond with pavé and milgrain. Size 4.5.

With my french cut diamond band.

And some handshots πŸ™‚

Hey guys, thought I’d update. I first emailed David 5 days ago. This whole process is going so much faster than I expected! He sent me drawings of a couple of rings today, and I picked the one that I knew I’d love and he’s going to have the wax casting done tomorrow. I’m so excited I can’t even think straight!!

@blt982  show us pics of the drawing? Lol I’m most likely going with him when we decide to upgrade my setting in the future.

I had my stones sent to me first… Originally when we designed my setting it was an Asha that was put into it (I wanted to see it before it was set) and now it’s an amora gem that I had him set for me which was always the plan to replace the Asha.

My setting that David made is a round halo with f/g vs diamonds on the sides set in platinum. For my setting and wedding band we paid about $2,500 (not incl the center). I saw similar settings I liked at other stores but for the platinum upgrades with crappy diamonds and poor workmanship, I was looking at about $3,000 or more just for the engagement ring and none of them were *exactly* what I wanted. The f/g side diamonds match my stone perfectly. The larger stone is always going to stand out slightly than smaller diamonds because it will be reflecting more color. I think f/g sidestones would be good with just about any color sidestone that is colorless or near colorless.

It’s important to see the stone first just like you would with a diamond to make sure that it is what you want- if you have the money, I would even suggest buying 2 so you can compare and keep the one you want, and send back the other. The first amora gem I ordered I wasn’t crazy about so I sent it back- that one was a 1.65 ct F vs2- the facet cuts looked almost petal like to me, and it just seemed kind of lifeless. I gave it another try a few months later after they did a restock and bought my 1.89ct G vs1 and it was EVERYTHING. Cut, color, sparkle. Had the first stone been sent to David to set prior to me seeing it, I would have been disappointed and never knew that there was a better stone for me out there. Once it is set, you lose the ability to return it or exchange it. Just like a diamond, you can be looking at 2 stones with the exact same or similar grading but to your eyes one will look different than the other.. The same goes with other stones.

I’ve been talking to David since December (some may remember my thread about not being happy with the ring in which I convinced my fiance to give DK a try). First he was very busy with Christmas proposals, then we made a few sketches and I had troubles explaining what I meant. when I finally managed to get it out, he got a right picture for me in a day.

Here is the first design, [content removed for TOS – mention of original designer being replicated] inspired with the airline halo (diamonds will be drawn later). Not exactly what I meant, but read on.

And this is after I was able to explain what I mean.

Yellow circle indicates a space where I’ll have a silhouette of the Earth instead of the leafy thingy – US on one side, Europe on the other. He’s pretty excited about my request and I can’t wait to see what it will look like! Also we may add tiny diamonds to the shank and hand engrave all around, then add 2 matching wedding bands.  He is great!

I’m currently working with DK to set my peach sapphire (in my profile pic). These are the wax mold pics he sent me. I’m in love already! There will be 16 stones in the halo.

Here is a CAD for my FI’s band, it repeats the pattern on my band, but large scale. DK said I’ll have it by the end of next week! ^_^

My finished ring went through some changes (CAD is a couple posts up): the Earth in the gallery didn’t work out… so I put the next thing there – a grape leaf. Wine = <3

David is adding tiny diamonds in the flowers on the sides, otherwise it’s ready. I need to go buy a soft brush and keep it near the sink at all times to clean this airy beauty every day πŸ˜€

The Earth is there anyway.

With the matching band. Can’t wait to see all 3 together, to wear and stare at it all day long πŸ˜€

Diamonds in the swirls.

I’m bringing this thread back to life because I cannot say enough great things about David. I’ve been back and forth with him about designs and stones, since I’m in the process of looking with my boyfriend. He’s been nothing but amazingly helpful and willing to get me what I need within my budget. I really hope my bf chooses to go through him, and does it soon πŸ™‚
