michellelynn9175 :  Oh definitely! David is our jeweler for life! I can’t see myself going to anyone else. It’ll still be awhile before we get it but as soon as we start the process, I’ll keep y’all updated!

Has anyone heard from DK recently? I’ve been working with him since early January; CAD was approved late January and he received my diamond Jan. 31. The last time I received an email was Feb. 22.

I’ve sent emails both last week (Mar 6) and this week (Mar 12) asking if there were any updates, and have not received a response. I know he’s very busy, but it’s been almost 3 weeks since I’ve heard anything…

I started talking to him March 1st. He told me my ring would take 35 days from the time the design was approved. All these posts about him going MIA are making me nervouse though. My wedding is in 3 months and it would really stink not to have my ring by then. I still have to get my stones and the rings he’s going to credit the gold to me sent to him.

phalene :  I would give them a call. He has been in Hong Kong and just got back into town so I think calling would be the best way to get an update!

SVandy60918 :  DK is pretty good with having it done on time. He was recently away, so that has delayed his responses. I would give him a quick call or email to say you’re just checking on the progress of the ring and making sure it will be done in time. He’s so super nice and won’t mind you asking. My ring just took about a month from start to finish.

Yes definitely give him a call! He’s very good about sticking to a timeline so don’t be afraid to tell him.

phalene :  I would give him a phone call.. For some reason he may have missed your emails. I believe he has people who answer the emails for him, so they may have missed them. Call for sure.

TrueLove407 :  I haven’t personally had any issues at all with him. His communication has been great. He looked at my design gave me an opinion that included critique (which I was thrilled with) and quoted me a price. He gave me price options based on what materials were used or supplied by me. I feel like he’s actually paid more attention to my design and put more thought into it than the last person I paid to get a custom ring done (she botched it horribly) and I haven’t even given him any money yet. I’ve actually been really happy with him so far but I was just worried it wouldn’t be done in time for the wedding based on other people having dropped out of contact.

SVandy60918 :  Can you supply your own gold/stones etc? I didn’t even know this was an option! I have a bunch of jewelry I never wear anymore and it would be nice to put it to good use!

michellelynn9175 :  Yes! and it was a life saver for me. It brought the cost down about $900 to supply my own side diamonds. I don’t know how much the gold is going to get me because he has to weight is first but he’s going to credit me for the gold as well. I’m also supplying my own center stone which was brought up at the beginning so we didn’t discuss him providing it. He is adding two small green saphires on for free but other than that it’s all my stones and gold. Not including the gold credit I was quoted $1450. I thinks that’s extremely reasonable for a complicated custom ring like mine.

michellelynn9175 :  He can actually use whatever stones you want as long as it goes with the design or can be modified for them. And he can also give you credit for gold or platinum!

Here’s my design in case anyone was curious. I removed the halo in one so you can see what the head looks like. The designs in between the prongs are from my mother/grandmother’s rings. I’m from a very large family so there’s basically no chance of me getting an heirloom ring but this was a way for me to have some of theirs on my ring anyway. I lost my grandmother last year and she meant the world to me. I’m not sure who ended up with her ring but it was probably one of my aunts. SideringMerebandmomdesign1archesnohaloarchsidefinal

jasc8790 :   SVandy60918 :  I was thinking the exact same thing! LOL! Such a beautiful design!

And this is awesome news! My setting was quoted at $2,750 I think? That’s for a halo split shank with diamonds on the stems under the halo too. (10×8 elongated cushion moissanite center stone)I’m not sure I have enough of the same size/quality to supply my own. 🙁 Did you get yours from jewelry you already own or purchase them yourself separately? I have plenty of gold though! I doubt that would be super cost effective, but every little bit helps!!!
