I see this is a somewhat older post, however, I did buy a David Tuterra dress & I love it. I tried on 80+ dresses of approximately the same sillhouette, so I was pretty much an expert on the drop waist/lace/mermaid style. The reason I chose this dress was based on the quality of the lace & the dress at a price point I could afford ($1,500 with tax).

Here is a link to the designers dress on the model: http://davidtuteraformoncheri.com/wedding-dresses/113208/

Note, I would have never chosen this dress based on the photos on the model. I was very lucky to have a great dress consultant lead me to this dress! Also, I chose this dress based on my venue as well. I was in love with the Mikaella 1661 (here: http://www.mikaellabridal.com/2012/06/03/classics-collection-style-1661/) I tried it on three separate occasions!. However, I could not commit until I had my venue. After choosing my venue, a more grand outdoor space, I decided I needed a dress with a longer train. I am very happy with my decision & can’t wait for the big day!

My venue!

I wore mikaella 1661. It looks so different (and way more amazing in real life). I LOVE LACE AND BOWS

I’m pretty much certain that David’s Hillary is going to be my gown…

I’ve gone dress shopping twice now, and I’m comparing every dress to her, so I think that’s a good sign.  I also cried the second time I tried her on, but I’m kind of a crier in general and I was tired (:P  I sound like a 2 year old…crying possibly because I was tired…haha)

Totally not what I thought I’d end up with, but nothing seems as good!

I hope someone will see this and help me! I just ordered a DT from his Spring 2014 collection, but I changed the zipper to a corset and I haven’t seen it! The lady at the dress shop told me I should order 1 size smaller (4) since I tried on a 6 and it was a little big. The problem is that the size 6 I tried was a sample size! Do they stretch? I’m just worried that maybe I should have ordered the 6 instead πŸ™

@xelarican03:  Hi! Yes!!! Sample dresses do typically strech a lot as they are tried on & fitted to fit lots of body shapes.  I tried on a newer size 6 sample dress as well and ended up buying a size 4. I was in between sizes too. The 4 ended up being taken in twice even with the zipper. Did you see the actual sizing guide paired next to your measurements? Also, the fact that u are having a corset sewn in means u you will likely have a little more wiggle room. Also, keep in mind–the dress stores do this type of ordering a lot & have a lot of experience in what size to get. It is just scary because they make I sign that contract saying u accept this decision :P.  Also note,  although no bride should ever count on this–it is very likely you will lose weight regardless if your trying or not. Again, don’t count or plan on this, but it does often happen. While it is true a dress can always be taken in…you will be paying more mobey for that. i think your instant fear and regret is normal. I remember freaking out thinking I ordered the wrong shade of ivory. I was convinced I messed up. Scoured websites comparing the website samples to my receipt. It ended up I was absolutely fine. It’s a huge decision to make with your wedding so of course you want it to be perfect. Congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding!

@seagreene:  Thank you!  πŸ™‚  I did end up choosing Hillary, and I’m excited to wear her in 4 1/2 months (Holy crap – only 4 months left.  How did that happen?)

Hi Seagreene! Thanks so much for your response! I just want to say that your dress is absolutely stunning! I love it and it fits your figure so well! I am a size 4 in normal clothing, but was always told that dresses run small, also, my measurements were right in line with a 6, so I was a little taken a back when she told me to order the 4 bc of the corset. Needless to say I still called back and changed my size to a 6. They said i was still on time since they hadent notified the manufacturer Yet. You look a bit thinner than me so I’m hoping I made the right decision πŸ™‚ what size street clothes are you if u don’t mind me asking?? But surprise surprise…now I’m worried it’s gonna be too big!! Ugh what a big decision. Also, How long did it take for your dress to come in?  They are saying it won’t come in to July :/ Thanks again for your response!

@xelarican03:  Hi! Thank you! I am a size 4 in street clothes. I had always heard wedding dresses run big too, but that didn’t seme to be the case with the David Tuterra dress I ordered. Check your pm for more info. πŸ™‚

After trying on so many dresses and getting totally frustrated I had not found THE one yet, I finally did!! At the end of a 8.5 hour dress shopping day, I found it πŸ™‚ So excited & so happy. It’s the David Tutera Billie style. Looks totally different on me than the model. Didn’t wear a skirt underneath so I think that’s why mine isn’t as big as hers on the bottom. But I am soooo happy, so glad I found this beauty and tried it on:):) I don’t need any alterations either!! (total bonus!)
