So I know a lot of brides wonder about the alterations process, cost, etc. at David’s Bridal. I purchased my dress from David’s and had agonized over getting mine done for months. I lost nearly 50lbs, so my dress was super big! I heard horrible stories about David’s Bridal alterations as far as quality of service and price.
After not being able to find a seamstress to do the alterations for me, my mother dragged me into David’s Bridal…TODAY! I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Here are the particulars of my alterations:
Keep in mind that my dress is completely covered in lace and beading, so it was a more complicated job.
-Taken in at the bust: $20.00
-Princess seams taken in on the bodice: $80.00
-Hem: $150.00 (I am super short and failed to order the petite size)
-Taken in on sides of skirt: $60.00 (I wanted my fit and flare gown changed to a mermaid)
-French bustle with 5 additional loops: $65.00
Considering I had mine taken down two sizes, it wasn’t bad. Also, you get another fitting and if they have to do anything else to it, there is no extra charge (at least at the store I went to).
Other things to keep in mind:
-Yes, it may be expensive, but if they mess the dress up they have to replace it.
-They know how their dresses are made, so they can make custom changes more easily.
-Simpler dresses cost less. The girl next to me had a satin dress and needed it hemmed and taken in one size. Her total cost was $125.00.
-For you petite brides (shorter than 5’4″): Remember to order your dress in the petite size. This will save you money on the hem, which is the most expensive part of the job!
HOPE THIS HELPS LADIES
