@iheartnerds:That is my problem too. I really wanted a plum color but had to go with Lapis. I found that it looks more purpley with certain fabrics so those were the dresses we chose.

@meginstl: I just can’t fathom why, with all of their colors, DB doesn’t have a true eggplant/plum color! Did you go with chiffon? Jersey? The satin looked the most blue to me. At this point, I’m honestly thinking of ditching DB all together and buying from a local boutique. It just sucks because I really wanted to keep the dresses affordable and I know whatever I choose (thinking about Alfred Angelo) is likely going to cost more than DB.

@iheartnerds: My Maid/Matron of Honor is wearing jersey (pic on left) and the bridesmaids are wearing a textured satin (right).

They actually didn’t have that particular satin in my color in the store. The salesperson who I had worked with a few was amazing and she totally understood my problem with the navy look of the lapis and said the hammered should be closer to what I was wanting. She said to have one bm order her dress and when it comes in if the color isn’t right we could use that cost towards a different dress. I thought the chiffon material was the most navy looking which is why we did not go with that. Overall, I am still a bit bummed I couldn’t go with the eggplant/plum I wanted but my wedding is in November so I don’t think the darker purple will look out of place.

Good luck with your dress search!

@iheartnerds: Oh and I agree the satin did look pretty blue but as I said my salesperson said the textured satin was a bit different and should be closer to the jersey dress color… so we will find out in a few months when the dress comes in!

I know how you feel!  They discontinued my color within a few weeks after I found it – Serene.  Luckily I have a very small bridal party and it was relatively easy to get my bridal party in to pick out a dress.  Phew!  Wishing you good luck finding colors you like just as much!

@Sassygrn:I did the same thing. The marine will look much nicer in the chiffon I think. Which dresses did you chose?

@FutureMrsBPB: I think that it will be an Awesome combo. I was going to do Sangria as well, but with a greyish secondary color, but there were NO dresses on DB that I LOVED. So, I actually found a dress in Shingar of India (I’m thinking you may be familiar with the store living in MD…Lol). They were too pricey, but I did find the same dress cheaper and am using them for my BMs and Maid/Matron of Honor. I’m getting them for $70. The company calls the color magenta but it is close enough to the Sangria for me, and i was able to find ribbon and things like that in the same palete. DB colors (depending on which ones you choose) are sometimes hard to match up for DIY things (well, I was having that issue since I live in a small city. lol). Please feel free to k.i.t. with me. I am getting married in MD, and am DIYing like ANYTHING that I can.

@FutureMrsBPB: Oh, and I TOTALLY AGREE with you not having to use “fall colors” because of the time of yr that you’ve selected. I say DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND WANT…IT’S YOUR DAY (and FI). They can either love it with you, or be guests. I haven’t asked for opinions from my party on my colors…Lol, but I was sure to pick a color that I know will look great on all complexions. I politely told them to trust my judgement (i love fashion), or they can opt to just sit out (with no hard feelings)…lol, but that’s just me. lol

im using their plum purple because i wanted a deeper color than the royal color, but when looking for a teal color they kept handing me jade which wasnt what i was looking for, we ended up with “oasis” which ended up being perfect, my Maid/Matron of Honor just got her dress in Oasis and its exactly what i wanted.
