When I “thought” i found my dress the consultant made me ring the bell.. and made everyone in the room start clapping as I closed my eyes and made a wish..It was sooo embarassing, (I’m not so outgoing).
How was your “ring the bell” experience?

Oh no. That would not be good. I tried on dresses there but didn’t buy any. Don’t remember any bell ringing. I would have been mortified. My mom asked if I was “saying Yes to the Dress” with a big cheesy grin and I had to shut that down with a quickness.

LOL my first thought reading the post title was about how when you try out for elite forces you ring the bell when you give up and want to go home. I guess my mind is skewed lol.

Nah, don’t remember any bells at all. I did buy my dress there. I probably would have refused to ring any bells, as I hate unnecessary attention.

OMG yes. So embarrassing and stupid! Literally everyone in the store came over to look. I have a picture but I cropped out my face because I was so red and embarrassed.
They need to get rid of that. It’s stupid.
ETA: After seeing this picture, I can’t wait to try on my dress again after I lost all the weight! My arms are 1/2 that size. Woot!

oh goodness, yes. ugh.
First off, I knew what dress I wanted the moment I walked in but I had a few I wanted to try on just incase (good thing, cause I liked one online but HATED the way it felt on me) But I didn’t have that OH MY GOD THIS IS MY DRESS moment. I found the one I loved online, liked the way it looked and it was sooo comfy so I told her that I would be taking this one (although i’m freakin’ obsessed with it now haha)
All of a sudden I hear her saying to someone else “we need a bell!” and I was like “oh crap, what?” and the manager came over and explained it to me and I just did it. I hate attention and I’m sooooo shy, and had I known this was going to happen I would have told them in the start not to bring over any damn bells.

@chicbride14: I didn’t have to ring the bell. A few months after I ordered my dress, I was in DB and heard the bell, and the consultant said it was something new they had just started doing…so I guess I dodged a bullet because I would have been mortified! 🙂

uugghhh I hated that part! After trying on 10 dresses (when I knew that # 3 was THE ONE), I was exhausted and wanted to buy my dress and go home. But no. They had to feed me this sappy story about all the previous brides (I honestly stopped listening halfway through the story), and made me ring the bell. Which didn’t help my headache, which had developed after trying on so many dresses!
Thankfully though, that was honestly the only negative thing that happened to me at DB. Every other time I’ve gone, I’ve had great service and everyone was super helpful!

@inkedbride: Oh yes, I forgot about the story.

@iheartsquishy: Congratulations on the weight loss! That’s awesome. You chose a beautiful dress =)

@iheartsquishy: What was the story about?
@SoupyCat: It was just something about how all the brides that rang the bell before made wishes and they came true, so you’re supposed to ring the bell and make a wish. It felt like I was at Build-A-Bear workshop with my 3 year old. Haha!
