My bridesmaids didn’t have a “special order” dress, but were told it’d be 4 months and the dresses arrived in 2-4 weeks. I do know they generally have a rush order option, but I’m not sure how it works with special orders. You could call your local store and ask!

I’ve found DB to be really rude and not helpful as well.

We were told 4 months for our dresses as well, then they came in in 2 weeks and DB got really grumpy with me when I couldn’t pick them up in 7 days

turner1510 :  my seamstress didn’t even want to see me for my dress (the bride!!) until a month before the wedding. I was like what?!? Hahah so even if they don’t arrive until August, they should have plenty of time to do alterations, especially if they’re that simple. I think one of my bridesmaids has a 9/4 alteration appointment at DB for my 9/22 wedding.

turner1510 :  date twin 🙂  My bridesmaid dresses are from David’s, and just as the others have said they told me 4 months and they came in 2 weeks later.

I had a special order color as a bridesmaid for a wedding, and it came in much sooner than the time I was quoted. Also, for that wedding I took my own measurements and ordered online and the dress fit perfectly. Obviously you won’t get the shopping time with your bridesmaids, but maybe you could have them order online and do something else fun that day to give yourself more wiggle room on shipping!

I don’t know about your bridesmaids, but I never get my bridesmaids dresses altered and I’ve been in 6 weddings.  I’ve received my dress the day before a wedding before, and just bring several pairs of shoes so I can avoid altering the length.  I know that doesn’t work for everyone, but I’m sure they’ll be ok!  I also didn’t go Bridesmaid or Best Man dress shopping with all my girls, I let them go on their own and pick what they wanted, so I think letting yours go now vs waiting might be a good option.

turner1510 :  Is this online or in store? I found they come from different warehouses and the timelines are different.

My Junior Bridesmaids dresses were special order. Online it said they wouldnt come in until April 7th which wouldnt work. I called a store and ordered over the phone and said they would come in March 14th.

I had heard sometimes they come in early and DB isnt good about calling to let you know. So i would call about once a week to check. They came in sometime in the last week of Feb and i got the “oh yeah they are here, came in 4 days ago” -____-

however dont rely on them coming early. Sometime sthey can take the full time, but def check the difference in timelines between online and in store.

I picked the color Meadow and it was a ‘special order’ color. I had bridesmaids all spread out so I gave them the color and told them floor length and let them pick their own style. All of them were quoted 12 -16 weeks for delivery and they all came in between weeks 6-8! Also – not sure if this is all stores but worth it to ask – the consultant I worked with said they could 2 day ship any of the girls their dress for free if they were unable to come in to pick it up.
