So I decided I wanted a certain dress from DB for my maids cuz it was on sale and pretty and I’m super sick of Bridesmaid or Best Man dress drama… lol
I had to call around but I did get my combination of sizes by ordering from a store (and having them ship to my house) and then ordering online.
4 dresses came from said reatil location and 1 arrived WITH A PEN MARK!
Its super visible too… about 1.5″ long on the tush section of my Matron of Honor…
Is there anything I can do to get this out?!
this is the fabric:
It isn’t super dark and is one of those things that could have happened on the day of and IS on the back so its not really that bad (like if it was on the front boob area) but I’d really like to figure out how I can get it out instead of going through the hassle of sending it back (if they’ll even take it!) or trying to locate another of this same size…
Anyone ever gotten pen out of polyester?
Please share your wisdom bees!

Normally I’d use nail polish remover (have even done it on a suede couch before) but since it’s polyester DON’T do that…
In this case, I’d say good ol’ hairspray. Spray the spot with aerosol hairspray and let it soak for a few minutes. Then use a damp/warm washcloth and rub the spot back and forth to get up both the ink and the hairpray. Use a towel to dry the spot, and feel the spot you cleaned to make sure you got up all the hairspray.
My mom used to do this on my laundry all the time. 😉

I see no mark. But there’s a product called Stain Devils. I’ve gotten all sorts of stains out with those badboys:
Also, if it came from DB like that, shouldn’t it be on DB to get the stain out? Just sayin’.

I would contact the store before you do anything. They might be able to get you a replacement dress. If not, you could negotiate a rebate for the ink stain.
I have used hairspray to take out an ink stain, but to be honest, in this case I would take it to a drycleaner.

Definitely contact the store. If thats how it arrived out of the box, then it is their obligation to provide your maid with a new dress.

@rachelmichelle: ooo good tips! I read about using hair spray on this site: http://home.howstuffworks.com/how-to-remove-stamp-pad-ballpoint-pen-ink-stains2.htm
But it sounded so strange that I wanted to ask the hive for an honest answer! lol THank you!
@pfinarffle: Sorry yeah, the pic was just an example of the fabric not the actual pen mark… I was too lazy to upload a new pic! lol Stain Devil sounds awesome! I’ll definitely check it out!
and I know I should try to call them but I can’t imagine shipping the dress back and finding a new size 16 cuz it was already super hard to find this dress! AND the prices went up $30 on the dress so idk I should think they sold a lot and decided to move the price back up… I could call them later but I think its less hassle to try to get the stain out myself… I hope!
@julies1949: Definitely great advice again Julie! Thank you! I will call them before I try the stain but I had to call a few stores to just find this one in my BMs size so I can’t imagine they’d be much help… BUT its definitely worth a try esp with a possible rebate coming! thanks!
@lululilly: I sure hope so! I have learned to not expect a lot from DB… I mean when I was on the phone I had the consultant look over the gowns for snags and etc and they still failed to mention this AND some untacked ruching in another one of the gowns… I don’t know if they’re just overworked but my experience definitely lends to their reputation as the Walmart of bridal salons… I’ll call today and do an update!
