My DB experience wasn’t that bad, but I definitely had a better experience at a salon. The part about DB I didn’t like was all the Spam emails I got after, even though I checked the box not to get emails and specifically told the lady at the front desk that I didn’t now want to receive any emails other than ones from DB.

I got my bridesmaid dress there for a July wedding, and the service was absolutely terrible.  The people working there were so rude and short.  The worker who helped us that day was so rude.  She insisted on taking our measurements, and when I asked why she said they keep them on for their records even though I knew the exact size I needed and had just tried it on in the dress we were getting.  I asked her to discreetly write them down, as my measurements are nobody’s business but mine, she barked them out to another associate, loud enough for people in a 5 mile radius to hear… until she got to the hip measurement, and then she said, and I QUOTE! "Oh this is bad I won’t say this out loud".  You can just imagine the four letter words running through my mind at that time. 

Unfortunately, I live in Dayton, OH where the wedding business seems to be about a decade behind the times, and I ooze jealousy while reading the blogs of the fabulous bees who live in areas that are way more condusive to wedding planning.  DB is unfortunately one of the few places in the area to get affordable gowns and bm dresses, so most people use them.

Oh not to mention my dress had been in for two weeks and they didn’t even bother to call the bride or myself. Yuck.

I went to DB as my first dress shopping stop to ‘get an idea of what I liked.’ Well, that did not happen, because they refuse to show you what you say you like. The girl that helped me was really nice but the manager was audibly yelling at her to be more agressive and push the expensive styles so instead of a simple dress with minimal train that I was asking for, she kept bringing over big princessy gowns with cathedral trains. They were horribly generic and looked cheaper than my prom dress. But they weren’t THAT cheap. I was afraid when most of the dresses I tried there were over $1000 thinking, like suzanno said, that meant bridal salons would be many times more expensive than that. But I ended up getting a much nicer dress for around $800 at a salon. And yes, there were other dresses that were many times more expensive, I’m just saying you don’t have to go to DB to stay in budget. I feel like you are paying for convenience there, like buying something out of a vending machine instead of the grocery store, you get so much less and pay about the same amount. 

@ Liz.Smith – LOL, I had a conversation with a MW guy at a wedding expo and he would not stop bringing up the DB partnership… it’s not a selling point buddy.

I was not a fan either.  The SA tried to get me to order a dress that day even though I specifically said that I did not intend on doing so.  (I had over a year until the wedding)  She also called me once a week for the next month to try and talk me into it.  When I got there it was so busy and my mom and wedding party were running a little bit behind.  The SA actually made me go into the room and start trying on dresses….. ALONE.  She wouldn’t let me wait 5 minutes until they got there.  So I tried on my first ever wedding dress by myself.  I just stood in the room alone until they got there.  All in all I was not impressed with their dresses at all.  And just like so many others- I got my dress at a locally owned place for not much more than DB.  I would not recommend it to anybody!

I have to say through personal experiences David’s Bridal sucks on many level. Sorry to those who like it there!

I have to agree with a majority of the ladies David’s Bridal has the absolute worst customer service.  As for purchasing bridesmaid dresses, it works if you have bridesmaids all over the country.  it’s ver convenient.   You pick a dress and they can go try it on and purchase it.   Then again, you can also have them go to Nordstrom, JCrew or even JCPenny to find the same dress in different locations.  DB is not your only option.

Shopping at David’s Bridal was not a pleasant experience for me. I made an appointment, and when I showed up they said, "Oh, I’m sorry we don’t have an appointment listed for you!" Really? I mean, really? It could have just been a fluke, but I had a much better experience at the store that I purchased my dress from.

I hear and understand. Though I puchased my dress at DB, I went with my fiance and luckily, we got a nice lady. After about five hours of looking, I found a simple dress, mermaid style, that fit just the way I liked it. This was done in the San Francisco area. However, moved to Pennsylvania, and went to the location in Allentown. Walked in, weekday, middle of the day, no one in the store. The sales people were standing around talking to each other and didn’t even bother the ask me if I needed help. Finally, someone comes up to me and asks, (after I stared at them….) if I needed anything. Yeah, didn’t buy any shoes from there. They are like putting on concrete blocks wrapped in sand paper. Sooo….went there to have the dress altered; they were busy. Ignoring me. Stood my ground, and finally someone managed to crack a smile, (must have hurt. Alot) and sent me over to the alterations dept. Yeah, watching a woman trying to take care of too much is scary. Instead, found a seamstress at a local drycleaning place that did a great job for a lot less. I have a appointment in april. I wonder if I should cancel or have some fun….
