We just posted a news item I though you all might be interested in.
Wedding dress retail giant David’s Bridal filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday, but with promises to perform business as usual. Brides, however, can breathe a sigh of relief: the bankruptcy filing will not affect any orders and bridal appointments will not be rescheduled, according to the company.

That is really sad. Although their customer service was sub par at times, it was a very affordable alternative for a lot of brides. :/

I wouldn’t have been able to afford a wedding dress if it wasn’t for Davids Bridal’s clearance section. This is really sad.

They are not gone yet. They filed under Chapter 11, not Chapter 7.

mlacake29 : I know nothing about the financial side of things, but I heard on the news that they are “restructuring” but not closing.

Chapter 11 is restructuring. Chapter 7 is closing.
That being said, not all companies that file for Chapter 11 emerge successfully, so I would be wary of ordering a dress from them.

I bought my prom dress there and two bridesmaid dresses. I helped my sister find her gown there as well. I hope they pull through this and work on their customer service.

I need to send in my wedding dress for preservation… already paid just haven’t gotten around to sending it yet.
Should I just go with someone else????

I would give it a few months to see how the proceedings go.

First Alfred Angelo now maybe David’s? 🙁

It’s sites like JJ’s House and CocoMelody that offer stunning dresses at a fraction of the cost that are taking down brick and mortar businesses. I wish them well through their bankruptcy, but I hope it makes their pricing more competitive!

This is so sad for other brides like me who rely on shops like David’s Bridal. So many of us just do not have it in the budget for the big brands. Hopefully the restructure ends well for the company.

I was planning on going to David’s for bridesmaid dresses in January. I love that their prices are reasonable and they are size inclusive. Ordering online without seeing the dresses on in person makes me really nervous. Should I still go to David’s or should I go somewhere else? Anyone have any other suggestions of stores?
